Making Balanced Choices for Holiday Parties

With all the the drinks and yummy treats that are around at parties it is hard to stay away from all the extra sugar and calories. I am a strong believer in still enjoying a piece of fudge or a snicker doodle once in awhile as long as you enjoy it in moderation. So how do you still enjoy all that the holidays have to offer without feeling blah and gaining those extra 5lbs over the season? Well it is possible.

Last night, I went to the Fresh & Easy Holiday Preview Party for bloggers and kept the following tips in mind.

1. If your going to enjoy a glass of wine, savor it. Get one glass and sip it throughout the night and then change to sparking water. This will not only keep down the calories, it will also help you feel refreshed the next morning instead of hating yourself for over doing it.

2. If you have a table of appetizers before you, go for the GREENS. Enjoy as many carrots, celery, tomatoes and snap peas as you want.

3. Make sure you do try a little bit of the things you really want. If you deprive yourself you will then be tempted to eat a lot of something else to try and satisfy your craving. So have a bite of that delicious cheese and shrimp, but watch your portions.

4. Walk around and mingle with folks. Stay away from the buffet and instead of eating to fill time, chat it up! Holiday parties can be such a great time to network with others.

5. Last, but not least, have fun! Don’t stress over what everyone is going to be wearing, what your going to talk about, or if you will have any fun. Just let loose and be yourself! Holidays are meant to laugh, smile, and love with the people that you care about the most. Life is too short not to enjoy every moment.
