2012 Cruise to the Bahamas: Life on the Boat

What an amazing vacation the Hubby and I had this year on our third K-Love Cruise!

We are so blessed to be able to take part in each and everyone of these amazing cruises. Matt is friends with one of the owners of the company, so we get the hook ups and get to work/enjoy the cruise complementary. This year we were “Stage Managers” for the pool deck, which was the best job we have had thus far.

A little back ground on what the K-Love Cruise is, it’s a Christian Cruise boat that takes over the entire Norwegian Cruise Line the cruise features music artists and speakers over the entire week. Each morning, afternoon, and evening is filled with awesome music, teaching, and of course playing on the islands. This year we got to visit Two cities in The Bahamas, Freeport and Nassau as well as a private island called the Grand Stirrup Cay.The boat is like any other cruise filled with entertainment, all inclusive dining and all you can eat self serve ice-cream! I took a break from the livefit trainer , but still hit up the gym 4 days that we were there. The gym was AWESOME! I didn’t get any pictures, but it was fully equipped with cardio equipment and plenty of free weights and machines. I did 30 minutes of cardio and a few weights. I also did a little much needed YOGA on the boat.

The first day we arrived in Miami we were assigned the job of picking up all of the artists at the airport and taking them to the boat. This was so much fun, because we got to meet so many wonderful people, like the Newsboys and Mandisa! If you don’t listen to Christian music you probably have no idea who these folks are, but we love them.

Once on the ship we headed straight for the lunch buffet. I know that cruises are known for EATING, but I was determined to stick to balance breakfasts (for the most part), huge salads for lunch, and splurge at dinner. I didn’t take pictures of all my meals, but basically all of my lunches looked a bit like this.

After lunch we settled in to our little room for the week. It was perfect. The rooms are small, but you are not really ever in them, so it’s not a big deal.

Before we knew it we were on to our first dinner. The boat had 3 restaurants that you could choose to eat from and the menu changed daily. You could also eat at the buffet for dinner, but we wanted to dine with style. We didn’t really dress up at all, mostly we just dressed casual.

My first meal was the Roasted Tomato Mahi Mahi.

Then an Italian style Salmon.

and another night a Smoked Salmon and Arugula pizza!

Let’s just say I ate my weight in fish throughout the cruise.

There was always appetizers and desserts to be ordered as well. We always ordered a little of everything and enjoyed the appetizers together. The mushroom quesadillas were my favorite! I think we ordered these every night!

And dessert was enjoyed every night, but I was not impressed ๐Ÿ™ Plus the lighting on the boat wasn’t very good, so my dessert shots are pretty poor. Here we have Tarimasu and Flowerless Chocolate Cake.

The best part about dinners, was dining with good friends! Our pastor from Memphis was speaking on the boat, so we had a chance to catch up with him and his wife. What a wonderful surprise!

Plus there were some nights it was just the two of us, romantic as always ๐Ÿ˜‰

So our jobs on the boat always started after 9pm. We would head to the pool deck to make sure the artists were on time as well as the MC’s (the K-Love Dj’s) as well as made sure as they had waters and towels. Then we just sat back and enjoyed the shows until MIDNIGHT! We were no old folks on this cruise we stayed up way past our bed times ๐Ÿ˜‰

The first night we saw the Afters perform, they were super entertaining and surprisingly enough I knew most of their songs.

That night we also saw the Newsboys in concert!! Did you all know that Michael TATE from DC Talk is now the lead singer of the Newsboys?!

Most every night we got a HOT DRINK and chilled on the deck after all the shows. Sometimes we played Farkle or just stayed up late chatting. The best thing about the Cruise was that we had no internet or cell phone service, so we truly were on VACATION!

Stay tuned for life in the Bahamas….
