Nutrex Hawaii {Review}

I was recently asked to conduct a review along with several of my fellow FitFluential Ambassadors for Nutrex-Hawaii’s Spirulina Pacifica and BioAstin.

Note: I was sent the following products to try through my partnership with FitFluential (for more information, refer to the disclosure at the bottom of this post).

I have always wanted to try Spirulina as I have heard wonderful things about what it does for your health! I honestly didn’t know much about it, but after doing some research and reading about it from Nutrex-Hawaii I am kind of sad I haven’t been taken it sooner!

It’s a natural way to bump up YOUR protein and nutrient intake. It’s crazy how much they can fit into 7 daily pills. Here are some of the specifics:

Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica

  • blue-green vegetable microalgae
  • all natural, 100% vegetarian, Kosher Certified, and Non-GMO
  • free of gluten, lactose, soy, pesticides, herbicides, and solvents
  • wonderful source of protein, carotenoids, vitamins, iron, and anti-oxidants
  • supports increased energy levels and boosts immunity

BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin

  • green microalgae
  • Non-GMO and BSE-Free
  • free of gluten, lactose, pesticides, and herbicides
  • low source of protein, but world’s strongest antioxidant
  • clinically proven to support joint, brain, eye, and skin health

In case you don’t know much about Spirulina, here are some fabulous facts about it:

  • It’s considered to be one of the world’s most powerful superfoods
  • It’s ridiculously high in protein – its 60-65% protein (compared to say fish, which is up to 35% protein)
  • It’s very high in chlorophyll – which builds healthy blood, promotes better circulation, and helps reduce inflammation – so basically it helps everything…I think of chlorophyll as liquid energy
  • Boosts energy
  • Heals your body
  • Helps you deal with cravings – less cravings for junk food
  • Boosts immunity
  • Detoxes your body (even helps with weight loss!)

Spirulina powder and tablets

One capsule is the daily serving and should be taken with food. Results are usually seen within two to six weeks.

Now I would love to say that I am feeling 100% more energy and have noticed a ton of changes, but I want to be honest with you all I have only been taking it for two weeks and I don’t know if that is long enough to really notice any true difference. I will let you know in month how I am feeling.

Question: Do you take, or would you consider taking, any supplements with spirulina in them?

I’m confused and maybe I’m not reading it right. You said one capsule is one daily serving but on the bottle it looks like it says 6 capsules in a serving. Also, you mentioned that one serving is 60% protein but the serving (which again I’m assuming is 6 capsules) is only 2g of protein. What am I missing?

Oh my! That is right…I meant to say 1 tbsp of the powder:) and not 60%! I will change that. Sorry!

  2. I’ve been considering it as of late actually! I’m excited to hear what you think after a month. It’s hard to not be impressed with it’s health benefits on paper, and I’ve heard stellar reviews from other as to how they feel and overall immune health.
    Thanks for sharing!

  3. I just bought some Spirulina last week and have yet to start it, but cannot wait! I have read about so many health benefits!

  4. I have never tried this! This looks like a great additive to smoothie’s and protein!

  5. I’ve been using spirulina powder in my smoothies for a long time, I find it brilliant. Awesome vegan source of b12 as well!
