{Mama Diaries} 18 months

I am not gonna lie, this may be the hardest season yet. I mean sure we had many sleepless nights when RJ was an infant, but that was expected and for the most part RJ has been an amazing sleeper through the night. Not always the best napper, but she kills it at night ๐Ÿ™‚ She also has a few temper tantrums that this Mama was not prepared for. It’s been a month of learning, but also one of the best! RJ is getting so much spunk and a really funny personality. I can’t believe is a year and a half already!

She is talking a ton!! Here are a list (because I need to document them) of all the fun things and sentences she can say..ok never mind she can say so many, because she is a little PARROT! She copies everything we say, it is so cute. But a few of the words that she says that I love are:

1. I love (wuv) you
2. More (Mo) Please (pease)
3. Water (wa wa)
4. Baby (be be)
5. Matt (yep she says Matt’s name)
6. No Thank You
7. Shoes (choose)
8. Socks
9. Choo Choo
10. Minnie Mouse (Yep she learned it)
11. Sorry (Saw We)
12. Cheers (Chairs)

I love communicating with her and seeing her learn new things everyday. It’s amazing what these little ones can absorb! Since my last post where she had started walking, now she is truly RUNNING! So much so that she has a few bumps and bruises to prove for it. I am getting why they call toddlers, toddlers! They toddle!

Our schedule during the day hasn’t changed too much, she is consistently taking about 1.5 hour nap between 11:30 and 2pm. Oh what I would do for a 1-4 nap time! Oh and her hair is growing like a weed! I can finally put pigtails in it ๐Ÿ™‚ I need to quickly learn how to braid!

It also hit me a few weeks ago that we are raising a tiny human! Ok, I mean I have always known this, but it hit me that we are going to have to teach her right from wrong and all the things of the world and not of this world. PARENTING IS A BIG FUN, AMAZING AND CRAZY JOB! I am excited to teach her about these things and I will not get overwhelmed (ok maybe a little) because I know no matter what we are going to do our best and that is all we can do.

For the past two weeks RJ’s molars have been coming in and she has been fighting sleep! OH TEETHING are you done yet?! We have been laying with her in the crib until she falls asleep and then climbing out. But then an hour later she is wide awake screaming her head off. I always said I wouldn’t let me children sleep in bed with me, but when your tired things happen. So I bring her in bed with us and then I sleep horrible. This is becoming a pattern that I am not thrilled with. But you know what I know it’s a season and she is only little once. I was reading a lot about sleep progression at 18 months and it sounds exactly what RJ is going through.

Eating is a whole other story! I remember thinking RJ is gonna eat veggies, no matter what (ha ha funny Bobbi). I really do try and continue to give her veggies where I can, but she really is such a meat, carb and fruit girl! She eat’s just like her dad. She does love my green smoothies and veggie sticks (those totally count ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). The veggies she will eat are soft carrots and peas. I will keep trying and trying, this war isn’t over!

We are traveling with RJ to Hawaii this month for a little family/birthday vacation! I am so excited to get away as a family, but I also know traveling with a toddler to our very favorite place will be a little different. I have no doubt we will have a blast and I know that RJ is going to LOVE the beach and the hikes! Can’t wait to share with you all about our travels!

HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY RJ!

Question: Any tips for traveling with a toddler?!ร‚ย

  1. I can’t believe she’s already a year and a half old! She’s adorable. What a beautiful family you have!

We have traveled a lot with our little one (she’s about the same age). I always buy a few cheap new toys (stickers, books, piper cleaners, etc) that I will give her throughout the flight. She enjoys seeing new things and it keeps her interest. I also spend a lot of time walking up and down the aisles! If you need any to do’s on Oahu, let me know ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. She’s so beautiful! Time really flies, doesn’t it?! I traveled by plane with my daughter from age six months and up – as long as I had her sipping a bottle or a sippy cup or something when the plane took off and landed, I didn’t have any ear problems with her.

    Have fun!
