Virtual Coffee Date [We’re MOVING]

Morning friends!

Oh boy do I have so much to tell you about! I hope you all have had an amazing summer. I can’t believe ours is coming to an end. How about you sit down, grab a cup of iced coffee or tea and let’s chat for a little bit.

If we were having coffee this morning I would tell you… That we took a trip to Yosemite with 7 families and it was the trip of a lifetime! I have been to many beautiful parts of our country, but Yosemite is for sure one of the most breathtaking ones of all. We had such a good time hiking, exploring, playing in the creek, sitting by the campfire and just being still. If you have never been to Yosemite I encourage you to put it on your bucket list, you won’t be disappointed!

If we were having coffee this morning I would tell you…That this is my last week of working up at camp. It has been an incredible nine weeks of fun and I am so glad I said yes. I have gotten to connect with so many of the amazing summer staff,  encouraged by many of the campers, enjoy some fresh air in the mountains, watch RJ learn and sing about Jesus everyday, and work with my hubby again! My favorite part of the week was Monday nights where I got to lead a LET’S GLOW class filled with some Zumba and drumstick action! I love love love teaching Zumba and I hope I can do it again somewhere soon!

If we were having coffee this morning I would tell you…We put our house up for SALE! This is only the beginning of the big changes that are taking place in our family. We have lived in our house for almost 9 years and we have LOVED it. It has been our cozy cottage that we humbly called home. This summer God has opened our ears and eyes to new adventures he wants to take us on for his glory and we are leaning in and following his lead. At first I cried a lot about leaving our first home. So many amazing memories and this is the first house RJ came home to. I have a lot of peace about it now and I can’t wait to make new memories in our new home. We are praying it sells QUICK!

If we were having coffee this morning I would tell you… That my hubby is no longer at Forest Home. He loved working at Forest Home for 7+ years, but it was time to say his goodbyes. He has a lot of new doors opening for him and his praying which direction to go. Either way I am excited to see where God puts him and how he gets to use all of his amazing talents.

If we were having coffee this morning I would tell you…That we are MOVING to ARIZONA!! Ok, before you say how hot it is WE KNOW 😉 We actually love the dry heat and we love Arizona. I mean I am a California girl through and through but we are ready for a little slower pace of life and a place to grow our family. We do have family and friends in Arizona which is awesome and I lived their for five years of my childhood and loved it. We will have a pool and a guest room, because we know we will have so many visitors. We love that the cost a living is lower in AZ, it’s a lot cleaner, it still has diversity, love the country and city life, the active lifestyle, the food scene is amazing, and of course we love BASEBALL! Maybe AZ will just be a short season, we don’t know but it is the next big step we will be taking as soon as our house sells.

If we were having coffee this morning I would tell you…That we will miss our family and friends here in California and that this decision hasn’t been an easy one. I know we will keep in touch and see so many of them still. That’s the great thing about the community we have built, it’s a strong one that supports us no matter where we live. We also know that God will provide a community for us wherever we go and we can’t wait to meet new people. Like I said it hasn’t been an easy decision, many tears have been shed!

If we were having coffee this morning I would tell you…That we got a mini van! We traded in my Honda CRV (which I loved) and got a Toyota Sienna. The CRV has no airflow in the back seat and RJ was always a sweaty hot mess, even in California. So I can’t imagine when we move to Arizona what she would be like. Also the leather seats would fry our legs! We also want to grow our family and new that a van would be something we would get sooner or later. We are so blessed to have friends that own a car dealership that we love and trust! I am loving the van so far and I am praying for each of these extra seats to be filled 🙂

If we were having coffee this morning I would tell you…That we are in a season of praying bold prayers and taking bold steps like never before! Not everyone agrees with all of our decisions, but we have to do what’s best for our family and we are the only ones that it all needs to make sense to. We believe our cause is greater than our comfort!  We can’t wait for this next chapter in our story! Prayers are welcomed 🙂

Question: What’s been one of biggest changes you have had to make in your life? Was it a move? Career change?  A lifestyle change?

  1. I’m So excited for your family!! We just went through an almost exact adventure a few months ago. Listed our home in Burbank, Ca for sale and it was gone in a week and a half. My husband and I both grew up in Southern Ca, and our friends and family thought we were crazy for leaving. But we knew God had bigger plans for us. I’m sitting in our beautiful, dream home in Flagstaff, AZ and I’ll tell you that even though I’m only a few months on the other side – it was worth it. All of it. Prayers for a smooth transition. We’re down in Phoenix (we have family in Paradise Valley/Scottsdale) maybe we’ll see you around! And if you need a break from the heat there’s all kinds of fun up here in Flag!!

  2. So exciting! Fill the van!!!

  3. What a season of joy! I pray your transition is smooth and your house sells quickly. CONGRATS!!

  4. Bobbi – tears of joy and prayers for you and your family! You have opened my eyes to so much – no words can express. I can’t wait to continue to “follow” you my friend. Oh so much goodness with his love to come, Amen!

I am a long-time reader, but rarely comment… but this time I had to! Your joy and excitement are evident throughout your post, and I am so excited to continue reading along and see where this next chapter takes you.

Also, my husband and I are currently a waiting adoptive family and I love reading about your experience with adoption, both with RJ and (hopefully) your future plans. I know it is deeply personal and there are also privacy concerns, but I hope you will continue to share about that aspect of your life.

  6. I am praying for you guys through these changes! You will be missed greatly! I am proud of you for following His lead- He is faithful to provide <3

  7. Thanks for sharing! Sending prayers and love. We just moved recently too, so I know how challenging transitions can be– but fun and exciting at the same time!
