Friends have been asking about my Fall wreath, so I thought I would share a post I did about it last year:)
I saw this super cute wreath on Pinterest and clicked on it it took me to Etsy where it cost WAY MORE then my budget called for. It looked simple enough, so I thought what the heck why not give it a try, I used to be pretty good with a glue gun!
![]()
Turns out I still got it! Now I wished I had an awesome step by step post that told you ever single step of how I made this wreath, but sadly I have two full time jobs and have to have time to make fun things like this so I don’t! But I will do my best to tell you how you can make one of these cute wreathes on your own! You ready??
What you will need:
]]>
I told the Hubby that I wanted to start fresh with the dining room and guest room. I wanted to sell everything and start new, so he gave me the challenge to use all the money I made from selling things to purchase everything new I wanted or to get creative! Well I shifted into major resource mode and I have been selling a lot of my clothes on IG and a lot of our furniture on Facebook.
Here is a shot of our dining room before. I really did like it , but it was just too crowded and with a 10 month year old who is about to get MOBILE, it was time to make this a more family friendly (or should I say toddler friendly) space.
Here is what we are going towards…(from Our Vintage Home Love). I love everything about this space! I want to paint the wall that the fireplace is on with chalkboard paint and add this cute saying as well as make that adorable wine display!
So first I cleared out the room. I am not gonna lie; I danced in my socks for a while and even thought of just making it a yoga space!
I really love the look of Farm House tables. They are very family oriented and as much as we host we just need a big table! Our other one was big when you added in the leaf, but when it was open completely it took up most of the room. Since I am on a tight budget, I started looking for some DIY tables on Pinterest (everyone makes it look so easy) and I found a few.

But then I remembered that my parents have a table that is a lot like the one we like, so I gave them a call and they were all for switching tables as long as I agreed to host Thanksgiving every year! So we said farewell to our pub table of 6 years (great memories)….

and said HELLO to our new-to-us dining room table! Well, that was easy! We still want to add some wood to the top and make it a bit more rustic, but this table will so do for now. I also want to paint the chairs. I’m just not sure yet. I also want to make a bench for it as well. I moved our two comfy brown chairs to the side of the fireplace and I like the look a lot better. My goal is to score two smaller chairs to replace them. I also would love to find or make a single chandelier and get rid of the two fans.
This weekend RJ and I did a bit of yard sale shopping, thrift shopping, and went to some of our favorite bargain stores (aka: Marshall’s and Ross). I scored this wonderful rug with just the texture and look I was going for!
I pulled out my Owl Shakers and it kind of got me excited about the FALL!
I really have just been going through the house and switching things up a bit, the cheapest kind of redecorating there is! We have a long way to go, but I am really loving the open space so much more. We also took a trip to IKEA because I did make some money selling some clothes and furniture and I have a guest room/playroom/office to decorate!
RJ loved looking at everything with us! Ok, maybe not but it was a fun family outing!
P.S. I have a lot more changes to show you. I can’t wait!
Question: Nesting: love or hate?Â
This mama has had a pretty exhausting weekend but coffee and green monsters are getting me through! RJ hasnâ€
t been sleeping too well this week, partly because she had her 6 month shots and they gave her a fever and she just hasnâ€
t been herself. I’m treasuring these late nights and doing my best to eat clean, workout, and stay hydrated. ‘Cause letâ€
s be real, when your tired the one thing you donâ€
t want to do is workout and SUGAR sounds so much better than a sexy salad!
I did ride a metric century this weekend (crazy I know) and got in my last double digit run for Boston! I will be posting all about that tomorrow!
Last week I made a SHRIMP SALAD on our “Taco Tuesday†and I just could not wait to share it with you all. I got this Honey, Lime and Tequila Shrimp recipe from Pinterest. I just changed a few things to make it a bit more healthy, without losing the amazing sweet and juicy flavor. I loved it so much that I have it on our menu for next week as well. I think I am going to try it with chicken next time.
Ingredients:
For the honey lime tequila shrimp tacos
2 pounds raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
2 tablespoons raw honey
juice of 2 limes + 1 lime

1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon ground chipotle (optional)

Question: What is your favorite way to cook shrimp?
]]>Sorry for being so MIA on the blog this week. Itâ€
s been one of those weeks where I feel like I am hitting the pillow at night wondering if I even looked in the mirror all day. Itâ€
s been a fun week to say the least, but I have been running at 5am two days a week, teaching AKB, cuddling a teething baby, taking RJ to her first swim lessons and trying to be a good wife and make Hubby his favorite dishes.
Speaking of favorite dishes, my husbands most favorite thing in the world is Orange Chicken. I cringe every time he orders it when we are out. So when I saw this Pin on Pinterest for a grilled version of Orange Chicken, I just knew I had to make it. We also have a tree that is growing oranges like crazy! I changed up the recipe a bit, but just sticking with boneless skinless chicken thighs instead of bone in and with the skin. I also only used oranges and left out the lemons.
Honestly this might be the best thing I have ever made, like EVER! I am going to be making this in a couple of batches and freezing for nights when I donâ€
t have time to think!

Healthy Orange Herb Chicken
Adapted from The Comfort of Cooking
1/4 cup olive oil
4 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons sugar
4 whole oranges, two juiced and two sliced
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
10-12 pieces (about 4 1/2 lbs.) bone-in chicken parts (thighs and legs are best), pat dry I did skinless boneless chicken thighs and still tasted amazing!
1 medium onion (any kind), thinly sliced (I omitted because I didn’t have on hand)
1 teaspoon dried thyme, or fresh chopped
1 tablespoon dried rosemary, or fresh chopped
Chopped fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, parsley), for garnish, optional
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
In a small bowl whisk together olive oil, garlic, sugar, orange juice, Italian seasoning, paprika, onion powder, red pepper flakes, and salt and pepper.
Place chicken in a rimmed 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Place parts skin side up and spread them out evenly in the pan. Pour olive oil mixture all over chicken, turning pieces to coat all sides. (If you marinated the chicken in this mixture, still add it all in). Arrange slices of , orange and onion around and under the chicken. Sprinkle all over generously with thyme, rosemary, salt and pepper.
Bake uncovered for about 1 hour, or until chicken is cooked and juices run clear. Remove parts to a serving platter and garnish with additional chopped fresh herbs, if desired.

Question: What is the best Pinterest recipe you have ever made?
]]>![]()
This year I stepped up the theme a bit and had a Chili Bar and Kids Corner inspired by Pinterest. Every year I make the main dish and everyone else brings yummy appetizers and desserts.
I got to put one of my Christmas presents to use! This three pot crockpot was perfect to keep food warm.
Base items available for topping with the chili:
Toppings:
Kids Bar:
I am pretty sure this one stole the show!
We also had bounce house that was a huge hit for adults and children. ![]()
I was too busy chatting with friends, enjoying the game, (ok not really) and playing with the kiddos to take any party pictures! I guess thatâ€
s what happens when you become a Mom and appreciate all the adult time you can get. ![]()
Questions: What did you do for the Super Bowl? Who were you rooting for?
]]>This is my first full week home since I left my full time job 3 weeks ago! Itâ€
s taken some time to get in the groove of things and get my schedule nailed down, but itâ€
s getting there. I canâ€
t believe that I used to do all that I am doing now, plus worked 40 hours a week! I will be talking about this more during our virtual coffee date on Saturday. ![]()
We are on day 4 of the 21 day Summer Detox Challenge and this time around itâ€
s been a lot easier. This is my third time doing this type of cleanse and every time I do it, I end up giving up something for good! The first time I did it, it taught me how start checking labels and eat a lot more salads and a lot less processed foods (even oneâ€
s that I didnâ€
t realized were processes). The second time around I gave up red meat and pork completely. I even rarely eat chicken. What I always bring back (in moderation of course) is coffee, wine, and Chobani,.
The one thing I always get excited about is getting in the kitchen and getting creative! I miss creating recipes for you all and making dinner every night.
One thing that Hubby and I have committed to is eating at home 6 days a week and going out once a week for date night through the challenge. We also have a huge garden that is overflowing with all kinds of yummy veggies!
I need to go get some canning supplies and get to canning!
A few of the dinners that I have made so far and have loved …
This Pinterest inspired farmer salad: tomato, zucchini, pine nut, basil, olive oil and pepper. Super simple just mix all veggies with a little olive oil sprinkle with salt and pepper and top with pine nuts. Doesnâ€
t get simpler than that.
A summer kale salad filled with: kale, romaine lettuce, blueberries, strawberries, jicama, cherry tomatoes, yellow tomatoes, figs, hemp seeds, slivered almonds and topped with quinoa and Fresh and Easy tahini goddess dressing.
Post workout Vega smoothie.
I so want to make these pancakes from Kitchen Blogger!
I have been out for coffee meetings and have avoided coffee! I enjoyed a wonderful bowl of steel cut oats and blueberries from Starbucks and a Forever Green Juice from a local juice company in town called Real Raw Live.
The sugar part is probably the hardest, because you donâ€
t realize how SUGAR is in EVERYTHING! At night when I am craving sugar, instead of reaching for dark chocolate like I normally do, I haven been enjoying hot tea with steamed almond milk.
As well as homemade pineapple sorbet! This is so easy to make in the Vita-Mix. Just add 1 1/2 cups of frozen pineapple to the blender and blend till smooth. I topped mine with unsweetened coconut, I bet toasted coconut would be great on it as well.
Here is fun IG video for you all…
Love finding fun finds at the local health store and I get out of my comfort zone!
and also enjoy my favorites! Salmon, quinoa, tomatoes, avocado and steamed veggies.
This week I have also been participating in GPP Fitness RX+ WEEK and I am loving it!
What is RX+?

Focusing on your health for a week should have far reaching effect. Completing workouts & being perfect on your diet is an amazing accomplishment and will have obvious health benefits. While you’re at it, consider getting a better night’s sleep. Organizing your life to include 6-8 hours of continuous sleep will pay dividends that’ll immeasurably benefit all aspects of your health. Keywords alert – “Organizing your life… “
Itâ€
s been so fun to get out in the evening with Hubby and friends and enjoy the beautiful weather on the track or even on a long hike! The workouts have been challenging for sure, but my body hasnâ€
t been anymore sore than normal and I love pushing my body this week as I am trying to get back to normal mentally, physically, and spiritually!
I am excited that this season of my life I get to say YES to these two A LOT MORE!!!!!!
Question: Are you doing anything to find balance in your life right now? What are you trying to find balance in?
]]>Like always I prep my meals on Sundayâ€
s and my new favorite salad concoction is simple and super duper sexy! I start with a a bed of fresh spinach leaves and then layer it with 1/4 cup red quinoa, roasted butternut squash, zucchini, and carrots, a Tbsp. of pine nuts, 1/4 an avocado, 1/4 cup of black beans, 2 Tbsp. sun dried tomatoes and 1 hard bolied egg (optional).
Oh and the best part of this salad is this new dressing I found at Trader Joes!!!
Hummus Salad DRESSING! No dairy and super creamy! Itâ€
s in the refrigerator section.
Speaking of refrigerators did I mention we got a new one? Itâ€
s ABOUT TIME!
I finally got to fill it up and everything fits perfect! Hello CLEAN!
This foodie has been taking all her meals outside to the backyard kitchen aka patio!
No fuss kabob and veggie burger salads are good for the soul!
Some how three cups on my desk are good for the soul too
They call me the cup hoarder! For some reason I always have three-five cups on my desk and I use all of them. One for water, one for my green monster, one for my coffee, and one of my mug of oats! Eh, it could be worse.
These Chocolate Dipped Coconut Luna Bars are good for the Soul too! Trust me, go out and by a BOX today!
I really love all things coconut, especially homemade coconut butter that is just made of pure coconut flakes in the vitamix!! Did you know coconut butter helps stimulate the metabolism? Who knew?
I am feeling pretty good about my eats lately, but somehow little things have been creeping up here and there…like these Dark Chocolates… BUT I DONâ€
T FEEL GUILTY! (well at least I try not to)
least they were full of antioxidants right ![]()
Summer always throws our household off with all the mini vacays and trips to the beach. I think that happens for a lot of people. So what am I doing to stay on track? I am making it a point to cook at least 5 days a week at home, taking salads for lunch and starting my day with a green juice! I may have more white wine then normal or the occasional fro-yo, but I am ok with that. Itâ€
s all about balance friends! I may never have a six pack, but I am ok with that! I believe in being FIT not SKINNY! I want to encourage you all to stay consistent, stay as CLEAN as you can (not perfect), donâ€
t give up, because ABS are made in the kitchen!
Question: What are your biggest temptations in the Summer? How do you stay on track?
]]>Getting a nursery ready for an adoption is A LOT different then getting a room ready for a baby that is in your tummy. A, I have a lot of energy! (not carrying around any extra weight if you know what I mean). B. We have NO IDEA if our child will be an infant or a 2 year old or a girl or a boy? Either way we know that this room will be for someone super special and every time we step foot in it, itâ€
s a constant reminder to pray for the child that will soon be welcomed into our home.
I found this super awesome Mood Board on Pinterest and it was the perfect inspiration of what I was looking for in a gender neutral room!
I love the colors, orange, grey and light blue together. Their not too feminine and not too manly
IÂ also really like all the animals!
Gotta love being inspired by Pinterest and wanting EVERYTHING in this room!!!
SIDE NOTE—-> Our sweet friend Shelly brought us to tears this week as she dropped off a giant bag of brand new newborn baby stuff! She had a miscarriage a while back and held on to it, to give it to someone some day. I was so blessed and couldnâ€
t help but cry. What an amazing blessing.
I love that itâ€
s all so gender neutral and honestly if we get a newborn we will be set!!!
So we have slowly started to get the nursery ready. We have a lot to do, but itâ€
s getting there. I love the color we chose! Itâ€
s the perfect mix of grey and blue.
I fell in love with this owl picture from Marshall’s, itâ€
s all the colors and fun owl design that I was looking for. For only $12 I couldnâ€
t pass it up.
Most everything else I have been thrifting or craigsliting. This super cute glider was only $40 bucks on Craigslist and is honestly more comfortable then any other seat in the house! I also thrifted the side table for $15 as well as the pillow for $5! I am looking for a cute little lamp to put next to the glider.
We decided to turn the dresser from our guest room into a changing table! I got this wonderful changing pad from a friend and ordered the cover from Etsy! I love the chevron pattern!
Our closet is another story, we want to remove the doors and put up a curtain as well as install a closet organization system, but I may do something a little cheaper that will work just as well.
I love these antique jars for storing things, they will be perfect for pasies, hair bows, or whatever little things are out there.
I also thrifted this owl vase for $3! Now I have to figure out what to put in it.
Some of the projects I am currently working on…..
1. This adorable tree mobile.
2. This corner bench for our living room for toys and such.
3. Building a fun wall of picture frames with cutesie Etsy art.
4. This piece of pallet art! Isnâ€
t it perfect?!
We still have so much to do, but are enjoying the process.
Nursery Check List:
I don’t know about you all, but I am ready for Spring!!! It has snowed twice at our house this year (very rare) and although the snow is beautiful I am ready for sunny skies and sun dresses!
Today I wore my OH so comfy poncho and snow boots! I fell twice today while at work today and managed to pop right up, looks like all the squats have created buns of steal!
Who’s got time for chains!
This week has been so interesting. Wednesday was my Monday at work as I worked from “home” aka Panera and enjoyed their salmon salad! Have you tried it? It’s delish!
This week I plan to make this amazing recipe from my Cooking Light mag! How good does this look?!
It’s been an amazing week of workouts:
Sunday: 8 mile long run and 10 mile bike ride
Monday:Â NROL Phase 2: Workout A + our yoga session
Tuesday: Core Power class at my Kickboxing Studio with the HUBBY! He did amazing!
Wednesday: Tought kickboxing (really just walked around)
Thursday:Â NROL Phase 2 Workout B
Friday: 5am!!! 6 mile fun run and I will be going to Yoga this evening and SALSA DANCING!!!!
It was so FUN to try out my new Saucony Virrata’s!!! I will be doing a FULL review of these tomorrow on the blog!

Also something that came in this week, was this awesome scale from Weight Watchers® by Conairâ„¢ Glass Body Analysis Scale (Model WW78). I love that it measure body fat and keeps a log of your weight. I AM NOT a SCALE person, but if you are trying to LOSE weight then the scale can be your friend to hold you accountable. YOU SHOULDN’T step on it daily, but once a week can keep you in check. I haven’t stepped on the scale since right after the Crazy Sexy Diet and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it hasn’t budged even though I have added wine and sugar back into my diet (in moderation of course). Actually I have lost 2 pounds, I am sure my weight will only go up or stay the same from here on out with all the strength training I am doing.
I have been lovingegg whites again!!! I LOVE eggs, which is one reason I could never be full vegan
There is a local coffee shop that makes the best veggie egg white omelets and I don’t even really like omelets.
This week I have also been committed to making sure that I am going through my Pinterest and accomplishing all those pins I keep PINNING! My goal this week is to get my linen closet to look like this {ok maybe not exactly}…
and also to organize under our SINK! I love the clean look of this one.
OOOOh and since I have cut meat out of my diet I have been trying out new plant-based protein products. The sweet people at Plant Fusion sent me some samples of their plant protein shakes and I was so surprised that they aren’t CHALKY at all and the flavor is really good. It has over 20 grams of protein, no preservatives, gluten free, dairy free…well vegan pretty much. It’s really reasonably priced and I saw some at our local Sprouts.
OH AND look what I found at TARGET!!! I love me some Alexia sweet potato fries!
I almost bought these cute little napkins this week…but then decided I just need to get a shirt mad that says this!
We are doing a bit of remodeling in our guest bedroom (when are we not? …it’s a work in progress) I wasn’t 100% pleased with the last comforter we purchased so we decided to go with more of a teal, grey and rust color scheme. I think this duvet cover will be perfect! I am ready for this room to have some kind of flow instead of being a bunch of old stuff that we are trying to make work! Maybe one day our house will be as organized as this…. I think I need to do an updated HOME TOUR, would that be something you all would be interested in seeing??? I am horrible at VLOGGING!!!
I close with this awesome quote by JB Phillips that I read this week. It’s so true and so speaks to my soul.
Questions:
Do you feel like your house is as organized as you would like it to be?
What is one area that you would love someone to come in and completely reorganize for you?
#1. WORKOUTS
I canâ€
t believe I have been doing the NROL for Women for 3 weeks already. I am noticing a huge difference in my WHOLE BODY! My arms are feeling stronger, my legs are toning up and HELLO tight abs!
I still have a long way to go, but so far it us pushing me!
#2. YOGA
I have made a new commitment to practice YOGA again! I have been making too many excuses for not going to my favorite YOGA studio (Inner Evolution Yoga). Yoga helps, my mind, body and SOUL!
#3. FRIENDS & FAMILY
I am still running twice a week with the running buddies, so thankful for these girls.
This weekend Hubby and I went out with some of our favorite couples to a JUMPING gym!
and went to our favorite Mexican restaurant in Palm Springs, Las Casulas!
I also go to meet my new baby cousin Jaxon, he was born on Christmas day! Such a cutie.
#4. FOOD
After the Crazy Sexy Challenge, my eating hasnâ€
t changed. I am sticking to 90% vegan diet and enjoying a glass of wine once and a while as well as fish. Sticking to a plant protein and clean eats as much as possible. I FEEL AMAZING!
Had my first glass of wine yesterday, and it was delish!
Even though we have been out a lot this weekend, I have stuck to fresh chopped salad with lots of avocado and fruit.
Found these awesome Quest Bars at a local health food store, 20grams of protein and all natural!
Had my first taste of meat last week too in 24 days. The Salmon was great and didnâ€
t bother my stomach at all. Gotta love the healthy choices at Waba Grill.
Sticking to JUICING every morning! My green juice of choice is, 1 cucumber, fistful of kale, 1 inch of ginger, 2 green apples, parsley and a lemon. After watching Fat Sick and Nearly Dead I am pretty sure I will juice for the rest of my life!
#5. RECIPES!!!
I have been a cooking machine lately. Loving my dutch oven, I am not sure how I ever lived without it. I have been cooking out of the Crazy Sexy Kitchen Cookbook and every recipe is amazing!
I made these roasted Portobello mushrooms and kale from the Whole Living Magazine and now I am hooked!
…and you MUST make this recipe from Cooking Light Magazine, Chickpea Curry ! Itâ€
s seriously the easiest and quickest meal I have ever made! The recipe calls for Greek Yogurt, but you could use a non-dairy sour cream as well.
CHICKPEA CURRY
Modified From Cooking Light Magazine
YOU WILL LOVE IT!
#6. PINTEREST HAIR
I had some free time this weekend and decided to play with some Pinterest ideas that I have been dying to try on my hair! I have been trying to only wash my hair twice a week and have been using Suave’s Dry Shampoo! I LOVE IT! I love the great texture it adds to my hair and makes my hair have a whole lot more volume. I finally learned how to make a bump ponytail without using a bump-it! I also followed this video and CUT MY OWN bangs!
#7. SIMPLIFY
We are also doing some major SIMPLIFYING around the house. Getting rid of extra clothes, workout clothes, dishes, and all sorts of things that our house over the past 5 years has added.
Simplifying is a detox for my soul.
#8. NEW TASK APP
I love task apps on my iPhone and recently I have been using the ANY.DO app and I LOVE IT! It creates folders for you to keep lists in. Because I am a list maker this is perfect. You can create a task in the folder with a date and time reminder or just make it without the date and time. I also love the clean font as well, and itâ€
s FREE! It was a little tricky to use at first, but now I am addicted.
#9. WUNDER UNDERS
I am also LOVING my new WUNDER UNDERS from Lululemon. I got money from my mother in law for Christmas and I have been eying them forever! I love that I can wear them as leggings, then to yoga, and even to run in! I got the CROPS and I do think they are worth every penny!
#10. BEST DARK CHOCOLATE EVER
I have brought DARK chocolate back in my life. I am not a huge sweets person, so when I say this is the best dark chocolate I have ever tasted, I MEAN IT! How can you go wrong when my favorite type of wine (Cabernet) is added to my favorite chocolate! I got this in a swag bag a while ago and I kinda forgot about it in the freezer. Letâ€
s just say I am rushing out to find it in stores today!!!
OK that was a bit longer then I expected
IÂ hope you are all having an amazing MONDAY!
Question: Have you seen “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead†what are your thoughts?
P.S. Today is the last day to enter my Shabby Apple Giveaway!
