I have been thinking a lot about what gifts that I want to give this year to friends and family. Yes, I am the girl who is crazy and loves going Black Friday shopping (I KNOW NUTZO). This year I can’ t wait to blast my Christmas music in my car, wear my cozies, drink my first peppermint mocha, enjoy taking my TIME through different stores and not worry about the rush!
Aside from maybe grabbing a few things on Black Friday in stores, I plan to get most of my gifts this year from small businesses on Saturday! Here are just a few of my favorites:
2. Refresh Attire (I had to give us a plug) Open tomorrow-MONDAY December 1st!
3. Reverent Creations: The cutest necklaces with TRUTH!
4. MegNCreations: These cute coffee cozies! Megan has all kinds of designs and colors!
5. Â She Does Justice: A stylish way to give back!
10. Ollie and Bear
Question: What are you favorite small businesses?Â

Thought I would share a few fun picture of the fun that has been happening this summer…
Susie and I went on a little Mamaâ€
s Get-Away with her kiddos and RJ to Palm Springs, before school starts…
![]()
RJ had a BLAST!
![]()
RJ is 11 months old (crazy right?), so that means we got a party to start planning! I am keeping it simple and going with a color scheme instead of a theme… pink and gold!
![]()
She is GROWING!
![]()
I have been adding to KALE to everything! Itâ€
s the best in veggie and chicken sausage skillets!
![]()
I found the watermelon Chobani, and I LOVED IT! Itâ€
s not a super strong watermelon taste, itâ€
s the perfect amount of sweetness. I found it at Super Wal-Mart.
![]()
I have been making an effort to not live in my workout clothes and now I live in these Target shorts and gold sparkly shoes. I love SUMMER!
![]()
I have fallen in love with BODY PUMP! How I had never tried it, I will never know. I try and do two classes a week and itâ€
s so much fun. I may even get my certification!
![]()
I am on week 7 of my ABIDE JOURNAL from Naptime Diaries. I am gonna miss it, when I finish!
![]()
RJ got her first pony tail!

Saturday cycle has been amazing this summer. I will be sad when it getâ€
s too cold to ride!
![]()
For dinners, we live on the porch. I am not even sure we have sat at our dining room table once this whole summer.
![]()
TRX classes have started at my Gym and I am teaching some of them! I am stoked!

I taught my first beginner class on Saturday with my friend Jackie and we CRUSHED it!

Still trying to master the beachy waves, maybe one day I will get it and do a tutorial.

Friday nights, have become FAMILY NIGHT and we have had so much fun getting out with the little. We always stay close to home and I think that we are starting to fall even more in love with our little town.

I am headed to the Idea World Conference this weekend and I am SO EXCITED! Who all is going to be there????
Question: What is one of your favorite things you have done this summer?
P.S. Winner of the Propel Challenge coming tomorrow!
]]>I told the Hubby that I wanted to start fresh with the dining room and guest room. I wanted to sell everything and start new, so he gave me the challenge to use all the money I made from selling things to purchase everything new I wanted or to get creative! Well I shifted into major resource mode and I have been selling a lot of my clothes on IG and a lot of our furniture on Facebook.
Here is a shot of our dining room before. I really did like it , but it was just too crowded and with a 10 month year old who is about to get MOBILE, it was time to make this a more family friendly (or should I say toddler friendly) space.
Here is what we are going towards…(from Our Vintage Home Love). I love everything about this space! I want to paint the wall that the fireplace is on with chalkboard paint and add this cute saying as well as make that adorable wine display!
So first I cleared out the room. I am not gonna lie; I danced in my socks for a while and even thought of just making it a yoga space!
I really love the look of Farm House tables. They are very family oriented and as much as we host we just need a big table! Our other one was big when you added in the leaf, but when it was open completely it took up most of the room. Since I am on a tight budget, I started looking for some DIY tables on Pinterest (everyone makes it look so easy) and I found a few.

But then I remembered that my parents have a table that is a lot like the one we like, so I gave them a call and they were all for switching tables as long as I agreed to host Thanksgiving every year! So we said farewell to our pub table of 6 years (great memories)….

and said HELLO to our new-to-us dining room table! Well, that was easy! We still want to add some wood to the top and make it a bit more rustic, but this table will so do for now. I also want to paint the chairs. I’m just not sure yet. I also want to make a bench for it as well. I moved our two comfy brown chairs to the side of the fireplace and I like the look a lot better. My goal is to score two smaller chairs to replace them. I also would love to find or make a single chandelier and get rid of the two fans.
This weekend RJ and I did a bit of yard sale shopping, thrift shopping, and went to some of our favorite bargain stores (aka: Marshall’s and Ross). I scored this wonderful rug with just the texture and look I was going for!
I pulled out my Owl Shakers and it kind of got me excited about the FALL!
I really have just been going through the house and switching things up a bit, the cheapest kind of redecorating there is! We have a long way to go, but I am really loving the open space so much more. We also took a trip to IKEA because I did make some money selling some clothes and furniture and I have a guest room/playroom/office to decorate!
RJ loved looking at everything with us! Ok, maybe not but it was a fun family outing!
P.S. I have a lot more changes to show you. I can’t wait!
Question: Nesting: love or hate?Â
This summer we are finally making our backyard a priority! We have really done a lot to it since last summer.

HELLO new ROOF!!! The patio cover and fans have made the spring nights so nice!

But, we were still missing some details. I really love getting inspired by Pier 1 Imports line of furniture and décor so I was happy to be able to get choose some Pier 1 outdoor items to really give us the pop of color and festive flavor we wanted for an outdoor party! I was on the hunt to create an oasis in our backyard.
First, I headed over to Pier1.com and Pier 1 on Pinterest for some outdoor party inspiration. I found plenty of inspiration! I loved all that Pier 1 had on-line! There were lots of bright colors as well as ocean and nautical inspired items. Since we live in California, I am all about bright summer fun!
Then, I went into the Pier 1 Imports Store in our town and started shopping; I wanted everything! There was so much to choose from it was a good thing I had a budget!
I stuck with the colors green, red, and teal. I really like this combination of color!
I ended up purchasing the following:
1. Comfy seat cushions that will last
2. Pop of color green pillows
3. Plastic colorful wine glasses
4. Mason Jar candle holders
5. Colorful chip bowl
6. Beverage tub
I invited a few friends and family over for a little back yard BBQ and the weather couldnâ€
t have been more perfect. Spring nights in California are my fave!
The guests even got fun coupons to buy some things to create their own backyard oases.
The hubby and his cooking spatula. ![]()
The spread was so yummy! We grilled burgers and hotdogs; everyone else brought their favorite side dish.
I even tried a new wine. It was okay…not my favorite.
It was such a great evening with our favorite people!

This Saturday was wonderfully productive, but I must back up first to Friday before I talk about all the excitement.
HER FRIDAY NIGHT RECAP
After work I headed straight to the gym trying not to get distracted, I knew that the treadmill was there and I wanted to flee!! But I kept focused. I am so glad I did because my run was SUCESSFUL!
HER Workout:
Day 3 of Boston training:
Goal: 4-5 miles with a tempo run (and other stuff but you got to buy the plan to hear the rest).
Stats:
I think because I had a plan, purpose,andit wasnâ€
t just running for the sake of running it made it easier. I was proud of myself, and I think that I will be able to do my Friday workouts at the gym.
Before the gym I had one of my WEIL Bars, Goji Moji from Natureâ€
s Path, and it hit the spot. Tasted like a fruit roll up, soft and bursting with flavor. I could taste all the cranberries and dates baked right in. It was small, but with only 170 calories it was perfect! ![]()
INGREDIENTS: Organic dates, organic fig paste, organic cashews, organic dried sweetened cranberries (organic cranberries, organic evaporated cane juice, organic sunflower oil), organic goji berries, organic dried orange peel, organic lemon juice concentrate, organic orange oil.
When I got home from the gym I had some leftover Chicken Pot Pie with a Cornbread Crust from last night. Then took off to Sbux to have tea with my friend Teracita. It was refreshing as always and before we knew it, it was 11pm and we both had to get up early this morning!
SATURDAY HAPPENINGS
Alright finally back to today!
My fuel for the brain at 6am, a mix of Kashi Almond and Flax, with Natures Path Peanut butter Granola. Topped with strawberries and half of banana, with soy milk and a spoonful of AB.
I had my 8am A&P Lab, it was pretty easy because all we did was go over the syllabus, same as yesterdays lecture. I was out by 8:30am, but stayed around to talk to a girl who lives right near me and is going back to school to be a nurse, future study buddy!
I felt so productive this morning, I ran an errand for hubby, went to TJâ€
s to get this weeks groceries, deep cleaned the kitchen and dining room, and made some home-made hummus!
The Goods:
I was excited to find the Tofurkey, it inspired our dinner for this evening.
After I put all the groceries away. I made the BEST LUNCH. I canâ€
t quite tell you to much about the homemade hummus part, but letâ€
s just say it will be worth the wait
I made a large fruity salad topped with strawberries, oranges, pom seeds, and some Snacktrtion trail mix (there is nothing like white chocolate in your salad).
…and I had a bit of Lavender chocolate for a little Saturday treat! This was very interesting because it actually tasted like Lavender!!!
This afternoon Hubby and I headed out to a local park to celebrate our dear friend Lisaâ€
s birthday. We laid in the sun, it was 78 degrees not meaning to brag, today and played some Bocci,Ball, an easy and entertaining game.
The Birthday Girl! Happy Birthday Lisa!
THE EATS: I was good only had a few bites here and there.
Then we came home to make dinner, a little carb loading for my long run tomorrow!!!!
Tofurkey & Whole Wheat Pasta
s
s classic marinara sauce ![]()
Ok I know these pictures look yummy but I have to say I really did not like the Tofurkey it wasnâ€
t my favorite taste, and I usually like everything. Hubby on the other hand LOVED it, that is a first ever!!!! I ate most everything else and picked out the Tofurkey. HAS ANYONE ELSE TRIED THIS STUFF???? Letâ€
s just say I wonâ€
t be making this anytime soon.
Look what came in yesterday!!! I am so excited to do this tomorrow, tomorrows the first day of the Sexy Sick Pack Ab Challenge . I took a picture of my abs last night so that I will have something to compare my tummy with in 30 days it will be interesting to see the results.
WOW that was a long post…man a busy Saturday and did I mention I have MONDAY OFF!!! Love being a teacher:) That is one thing I will miss when I become an RD, the school schedule.
Well I have a 11 mile run tomorrow morning at 6:30am with a local running group it will be tough to get out there that early but, if I don’t make it I will have to run alone NO FUN! I haven’t run a long run since THANKSGIVING DAY! I am catching up on all your blogs canâ€
t wait to hear how your weekend is going!!! Anyone else have a 3 day weekend?
RECAP OF SATURDAY MORNING
I went to AKB yesterday and burned like a million calories! My total HBBC points 37.75 to this day, Michael is an amazing teacher and always pushes my body to the limit. When I got home I made another breakfast cookie, but this time I use banana protein powder, it was perfect!
SHOP TILL WE DROPPED
After breakfast hubby and I set off for a full day of shopping (don’t I have the best HUBBY)for Christmas presents. Hubby did not have breakfast, so of course I had a LARABAR stashed in my purse for him. He tried the Gingersnap, (I don’t like ginger he loves it) he said that the bar needed 1.7oz less GINGER, in other words there was too much ginger in there for him.

The first outlet we went to was ok, we walked around for about 2 hours and then got some lunch at the ONLY eatery they had there. They had a lot of options, healthy and unhealthy. Everything looked really good. It was 3pm and we were FAMISHED. I still went with a lighter option, a Thai Wrap with Thai chicken, peanut sauce, jasmine rice, and cucumber salad all wrapped up in a whole wheat tortilla with a spa salad on the side. I could have just had the salad, it was so good ( I ended up eating only half the wrap). There was grilled squash and zucchini on top! They also had a FLAVOR bar, and if you don’t know this I AM the CONDIMENT QUEEN! So I got some BBQ sauce and Cilantro dressing. I just dipped my wrap in them trying to avoid to many empty calories.
We only ended up getting two things at the outlets then took off to hit the next mall. O and while we were there, they had a buy one get on FREE churro, so we just had to get one. This was by far the biggest and best churro I have ever had. The dough was gooey, warm, and sooo fresh.
Hubby having too much fun in the Kitchen Store!! lol

Why would ANYBODY BUY THIS!!!!!

At the next mall we SCORED. We found some great gifts for the secret Santa exchanges in both sides of the family, and we got something PERFECT for the FIL! By the time we got to the last mall it was 7pm and we were started to drop, but we made it through got some great gifts for my brothers, my parents, and the hubby and I split up and did a little shopping for each other (I got some great stuff for him he’s going to LOVE it!).
When we got home is was almost 9pm and we were SO ready to EAT! Thankfully the pot roast took 11 hours to cook so when we got home it was cooked to perfection. I am not a big red meat eater, actually I could probably live without it this meal was solely for the hubby who is a meat and potato kind of guy (he’s from the south of course). This was my first time making Pot Roast (my NEW THING FOR THE DAY) and it was successes the meat was so tender and the potatoes and carrots were not too soft, just done enough. We could tell the carrots were from the Farmers Market, they tasted do much better then the store bought. I wonder if I could slow cook butter nut squash??

SUNDAY MORNING BAKING
I woke up at 7am this morning ready to bake for my Christmas Cookie Exchange Party today. I just went ahead and baked the OOOO so amazing Oatmeal, Chocolate, and Pecan Cookies I made last week. Their so easy and stress free! Thank you all for the wonderful recipes and cookbook ideas! Maybe one day when I get a Kitchen Aid Mixer I will get more creative:) I also attempted at some of KATH’s Baked Oatmeal Snack Bars, I didn’t have banana chips or walnuts so I used craisens, raisins, and almond trail mix. I think this was a pretty good attempt; I have some great ideas for adding next time! I also had a little waffle banana and peanut butter sandwich on one of my NEW plates I got yesterday from Pottery Barn!

Todayâ€
s agenda:
Clean up the kitchen!
Clean Bathrooms
HAVE A GREAT DAY! OOOO AND LAST DAY TO COMMENT FOR THE PROBAR CONTEST!
I will be posting some exciting stuff tomorrow morning so stay tuned…..
]]>So last night as we were going to bed I made the decision not to go to spinning class this morning. I am going to do AKB tonight and I am still pretty sore from yesterdays run, got to listen to the body.
For breakfast I made a Bowl of SNOW:
the combo:
1/2 c oats
1/2 c water
1/2 c vanilla soy milk
1/2 sliced banana
handful of hemp seeds for protein
handful of crushed walnuts
1/8 nutty banana boom PROBAR
sprinkle of coconut (SNOW)
drizzle of agave nectar
and a spoonful of apple butter
with my peppermint mocha coffee and a shot of Monavie
This is my Last PROBAR:( I am going to be doing a contest for a PROBAR GIVEAWAY soon, so stay tuned…..

Yes I did it!!!! Woke up at 5:30am (hubby set the alarm for 5:30 not 5:15) and jumped out of bed! Hubby had my coffee read, thanks hubs, and I drank it with a piece of whole wheat toast and Pb. I then headed down to my running trails, and did a wonderful 5 miles in the 47 degree weather. At first I was real cold, and then I thought of Lance, “If you need to get warmed up a bit – think of me – snow falling, temps in the 20’s – I’m sure you’ll forget all about 48 feeling cold!!” and I started running hard. I took the first three miles easy to warm up my tight and sore legs. My legs are real sore the front part of my hammys are killing. I think it is from all the squats we did in class on Monday. Once the legs were warmed up I picked up the pace and shredded off 5 minutes of my turn around time.
Stats:
Time: 44:55
Distance: 5.08 miles
Avg Pace: 8:49
Max pace: 6:30
Total Calories burned:602
My goal is to beat my mileage last month, at least run 50 miles!
In January when I start training for Boston I know I will start piling on the miles big time!
When I got home I made a bowl of Cranberry Christmas Oats:
The combo:
1/2 c oats
1 c unsweetened soy milk ( I like hemp better)
a dash of pumpkin spice
a dash of Cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 banana
handful of dried cranberries
handful of Zoe’s granola cranberry currents
handful of flax seed
1/8 cup sliced almonds
spoonful of Barneys Butter! man I missed this in TN:)
I love all the crunchiness! I also had the last small slice of my whole wheat french toast casserole. As you can see I had one more cup of coffee but this one was black.

BIRTHDAYS
Today is my daddy’s birthday( HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD) and my friend Justin’s!!! It is also the day I ran my first marathon in 2005! For my dad’s birthday we are having him over for an elegant dining experience with my brothers:) So I need your help! I want to make this a very special birthday dinner, I am coming up with a menu and going all out! Do you have any ideas what I should make?! I would appreciate anything!
CHRISTMAS CARDS
My goal is to get all the Christmas cards in the mail by Saturday. Seeing that we haven’t taken any pictures I am not sure that will be possible but hubby and I were thinking about just putting Bosco on our card and saying HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM THE MCCORMICK’S, keeping it short and simple. I know family’s sometimes just send out cards with their kids on it, and sense Bosco is our baby I thought why not he is cuter then the both of us…lol…what do you think?
Tonight I have so much to do!
Check list
The plan is to get home start a fire drink some of my NEW hot tea, and get to busy!!!! Have a wonderful Wednesday! OH and don’t forget to send in your recipes to marie.bobbi@gmail.com for the CreatYourOwn Cookbook Contest!!! I don’t have too many submissions so everybody has a fare chance!
Here is my NEW tea!!!

On this December 2, 1982 Doctors at the University of Utah Medical Center performed the first implant of a permanent artificial heart in a human. Barney Clark lived 112 days with the device.
The work out last night has me a little exhausted, I am so surprised that I was able to fall asleep so easy because I had cup of coffee at 6pm. I normally never drink caffeine in the evenings but I was a little wiped out from my first day back to school. I read as much “At First Sight” as I could then crashed!
AKB
Class last night went well, I have decided that I will make a little video of some great kickboxing tips that you all can do at home. Would any of you be interested in that? Check out what a class looks like with our class video here. I love AKB it really works so much of the body, I don’t like it better then running but it comes in a close second. Speaking of running the plan was to run this morning, well originally it was to do spin class but sense we only have one car right now because the other is in the shop I let hubby take the car to go play b-ball with his guys. So that leaves me to go run, but I DIDN’T go! I wanted to really I did, I think that getting back in to the groove after vacation is a little hard. Waking up earlier, eating regularly are things that I love to do, but it’s taking some time.
I haven’t had breakfast yet I am not hungry which is weird, but I did have a late dinner, didn’t eat until around 10pm! I had leftover sweet potato shepherds pie..was even better the second time. I think I will have a bowl of cereal boring but easy at the moment easy sounds good:)
NEW THINGS FOR A NEW YEAR!
Well today I have to think of something new to do. If you know me at all I love ordering the same thing at restaurants, I play the safe card all too often! I try and be spontaneous it just never really happens. So this whole doing something new everyday thing will be challenging but it will get me out of my comfort zone! I need new things in my life, a fresh new pair of eyes, a fresh new outlook on life, newness can be a great thing! hmmm what to do today…….

Tonight I am babysitting for a friend until 8:30 so I don’t know when I will get in a work out, I am contemplating on going to the gym to do some weights their open until 11pm. I JUST NEED TO GO! I am sad now that I didn’t run this morning, but I am rising early tomorrow and am going to do 5 miles no MATTER what!
Hope you all had a great workout, or relaxing morning:)
]]>Went out shopping yesterday after my hour kickboxing class, I think I burned like a million calories after walking around for hours and hours. Good thing I had a McCormick McGriddle!
Kickboxing was intense I am going to post tonight about this GREAT workout!

I hit up the Mills out here, which has basically every store and if it’s not there the you can go right across the way to the Victoria Gardens. I think I must look like an easy catch because yesterday I kept getting SUCKED in to all the kiosk people. The first one literally grabbed me, sat me down and kept saying ” 10 minutes 10 dollars (in an Asian accent)”. He wanted me to get a massage, I was set in saying no but then he insisted and I needed one so I caved in! lol….
I got some great deals and Old Navy, Gap, Bath and Body Works, and Marshall’s. I started getting dizzy at around one O’ Clock so I hit up the food court. I hit up the healthiest choice I could find and got a turkey apple salad minus the bacon. Instead of chips on the side I had a bowl of tomato soup. As I looked around the GINORMOUS food court I think I was the ONLY one eating a salad, a year ago I would have been eating Chinese food for sure.

It’s so much fun shopping for other people, there is a joy that I find in finding that perfect gift. So what is the perfect gift? Well I think homemade things are wonderful, but I know my little bro’s aren’t down with me making them a scarf, so the perfect gift for them is something that they like that I took the time to pick out (like cloths and video games). There are a lot of perfect gifts out there, but is there a perfect gift for everyone?
Shopping was done around 5:30 and I still needed to hit up the grocery store, so I rushed off so I could make it home on time to make dinner. Before I rushed off I grabbed a small Strawberry Nirvana smoothie from Jamba Juice, because I didn’t want to go shopping on an empty stomach. I am glad I had a shopping list because my grocery shopping was painless. I finished around 7 and finally headed home!!!!
I wish I could have worn a pedometer, I think I must have walked like 30 miles! When I got home I showed hubby all my fun finds, and he was thrilled. He was also in the middle of a MAJOR organization project in the garage, Mr. OCD! lol…. Here is a picture of the things that I got for FREE! I didn’t purchase anything for myself, just took advantage of some freebies.

SUNDAY TREE DAY & LAST DAY OF POTM
This morning I made the most amazing french toast casserole. I had been planning on making this next weekend and then I saw Megs post and had to make it today!!! I saw a recipe in Cooking Light Magazine and played around with it a little.
Cran-Apple French Toast Casserole (my new name for it)
Ingredients:
3 eggs + 2 egg whites
1 tbs butter
1 cup diced apple
cinnamon
1/4 c brown sugar
4 slices of whole wheat bread cut into small squares
1/4 cup dried cranberry’s
1/2 cup apple cider
1/2 cup non fat milk
1/4 cup fresh cranberry sauce
a little nutmeg
sliced almonds for topping
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
2. Melt butter in pot and apples and stir for ten minutes. Then add 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
3.Spray pie pan with non-stick Pam and lay down bread squares to cover the bottom.
4. Sprinkle dried cranberries on bread along with apple mixture. Combine apple cider with the next 4 ingredients plus all of the eggs whisk together, and pour on top of bread mixture sprinkle with remaining brown sugar.
5. Sprinkle with almonds and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.
This was super yummy and I will be making it for Christmas breakfast with the family!!!!
