I hope ya’ll had a wonderful three day holiday weekend. Since we just got back from California last weekend (more to come on that) we decided to have a little stay-cation and check out some new fun spots here in Phoenix Arizona!

Weekendfun

When we first moved here we would try new restaurants out on a weekly basis (we love food), but we have been spending a lot of our time making our house a home, unpacking and settling in. We actually have loved the slower pace of weekends and the more time at home together. However it was time to GET OUT! It rained all weekend (BOO!) but we still made the most of it.

Friday I had a Lularo Pop Up with a few friends at my house and then the rest of the weekend we ate, played, shopped, swam in our pool (ok just tested it out still too cold) and finally watched the movie TROLLS!!! We all loved it. We actually ended up buying it, cause we knew RJ would want to watch it again. It was one of the best weekends we have had here in AZ in a long time!

Last weekend when we were in California visiting some friends (best weekend ever) I snuck in a 9 mile run with my lovely Cali running buddy Val. It was a beautiful run and I am a little bummed not to have her around for all my long runs. Runs always fly by when you have about 6 months of life to catch up on!

Screen Shot 2017-02-21 at 11.14.12 AM

Well this past Sunday I ran 10 miles alone! It was raining so I started the first 3 miles off on the “dreadmill” at the gym and then when I got the courage I headed out in the rain for the last 7. It was just a light sprinkle at first, but then really started to pick up with a strong wind. I listened to a Revelation Wellness podcast to help push me  along, but before I knew it my phone died at mile 5!!! So now I was running in the rain, by myself, with the wind at my face, and I had no music to motivate me. I am not gonna lie I was a little discouraged for a moment. I turned around at mile 5 and then remembered how I had run an entire marathon with no music and IN THE RAIN! Those two marathons were by far some of the hardest, but I finished. So a measly 5 miles was nothing. I had been praying for some SOLO time with the Lord and I sure did get it. I did a lot of praying and listening for the last 5 miles. My body felt great, but as always my hips got a little tight. I really need to work on getting my foam rolling and stretching in EVERYDAY! Since then I have been using BCAA’S like crazy, doing yoga and rolling.

Along with the crazy running, I am also participating in Paige’s Lean Body Bootcamp for the next 6 weeks. I am so excited I jumped in cause this is just the challenge I need to keep me eating clean through the marathon training as well as keep my muscle! Here is what you get in her program:

Lean Body Boot Camp:
  • Customized macronutrients (or estimating portions,) with adjustments every 2-3 weeks
  • nutrient timing and carbohydrate cycling guidelines and strategies to follow
  • Grocery lists, sample meal plans, my meal prep guide, and my travel guide
  • Access to your own training platform, that’s accessible from your computer and mobile phone, with your workouts, video demos, training plans, macros, progress, and more (I pay a premium for this program, and my clients absolutely LOVE the app)
  • 6 weeks of workouts, with new workouts every week (you will have the choice between the At-Home and In-the-Gym track)
  • Daily accountability check-ins, weekly challenges, and bi-weekly in-depth check-ins
  • My commitment, coaching, and expertise as a trainer and nutrition coach to help you succeed in your goals

I promise to keep you all updated on the program! So far were in week 2 and I am loving it! I can already tell that I am getting way more satisfied with my crazy training hunger and building back my lean muscle. I have been sticking to three days of running, 2 days of HIIT (aka CYCLEBAR) and 3 days of weights.

Screen Shot 2017-02-21 at 10.49.26 AM

I am headed to Florida tomorrow and will be working the Run Disney Princess Half Marathon EXPO with Raw Threads. If you are running come say HI!!! This will be my biggest challenge thus far with sticking to clean eats and getting in my workouts. I am going to give myself major grace and do the best that I can. When I get back, I will CRUSH IT!

2 weeks down 8 more to go!!

Question: What is your biggest challenge while training for an event?

Her Next Marathon https://www.bobbimccormick.com/her-next-marathon/ https://www.bobbimccormick.com/her-next-marathon/#comments Tue, 07 Feb 2017 23:47:54 +0000 http://www.bobbimccormick.com/?p=35660 Hey there!

Well it’s about time I dusted off my running shoes and signed up for my next marathon! It’s been almost three years since I ran my last one . Which I only did, because I qualified for Boston before we ever knew we would have Rylee Joy. Now that RJ is almost 4 ( crazy) our season of life is slowing down and I am honestly not as burnt out like I was right after my last race. I am so glad that I listened to my body and took a long break from marathon training. Since 2006 I have trained for a marathon back to back to back. Doing a total of 10!

Screen Shot 2015-01-08 at 11.40.28 AM

The bug is back! I am so excited to be running more. I even found a couple running buddies out here in Arizona, but I have also found the Revelation Wellness running podcast and that has changed running solo for me. I used to hate running alone and now I don’t mind it as much. I love how encouraging the podcast is and how fed and refreshed I feel after. I am only on week 2 of training and my training plan is only a total of 11 weeks. I have a pretty good starting base and I know that if I trained for anything more I would get burnt out. This most likely will be the only marathon I run this year, so I want to make sure that I enjoy every bit of it. I am also only running three days a week and cross training the other three. I am taking one day of rest which will come right after my long run days. I will be doing some spin and TRX.

Screen Shot 2017-02-02 at 2.08.29 PM

Here is a link to my plan in case you are interested. As you can see I will not be running more than 40 miles a week when training for this marathon, I am 100% more about running less quality miles over quantity. The cross training I will be doing will be a lot of HIIT workouts, cycling and TRX core work. I want to make sure more than anything I do not overtrain and hurt myself. If I need an extra rest day I will take it! My goal for the race is to run under 4 hours for sure, but to finish and feel strong.

Screen Shot 2017-02-06 at 3.39.32 PM

So the race that I chose to do this year is local and do you want to know a secret? I have NEVER done a local marathon before. Not one have I been able to sleep in my own bed the night before. So that is going to to be so nice! I love to travel for races and make a fun trip out of it. However this year I am living in a whole new state, so to me it’s kind of like doing a marathon in a new place. The race I will be running is called the Hippity Hopp Marathon in Peoria on Sunday April 9, 2017. They also have a half marathon, 5k, 10k and a 4 mile run! It’s the weekend before Easter as well as my birthday MONTH! Arizona is beautiful in the spring so it will be the perfect training weather.

The wonderful Hippity Hopp Race folks have gave me a discount code for all my readers! Use NHERSHOES15 at check out and get 15% off your registration.

Questions: Have you signed up for any races this year? Are you planning to? In Arizona one’s I should know about?

Weekend Wrap-Up https://www.bobbimccormick.com/weekend-wrap-up-6/ Mon, 07 Mar 2016 20:39:41 +0000 http://www.bobbimccormick.com/?p=35373 Hey! Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

It was quite the EVENTFUL weekend over at the McCormick’s, that a weekend recap just had to be written. Oh and it RAINED all weekend, which is crazy talk for southern California.

On Friday I did the 16.2 workout at the new Crossfit gym I am working at. I innocently signed up for the Crossfit Open, because one of the coaches said even if your not super competitive and just want to do it for fun, sign up. So I thought…why not?! Oh man are these workouts kicking my butt, but in a good way. I only go to Crossfit about twice a week and I am not gonna lie I choose the days where there is mostly HITT workouts and running, not a huge fan of snatches and overhead squats. The 16.2 workout was actually a lot of fun (well fun from a trainer doesn’t mean anything). There was toes to bar, double unders, and squat cleans (I finished with a 95 pound squat clean which is a PR for this girl). I got a whopping 262 reps, which I was proud of but walked away with a gnarly blood blister.

IMG_7325

Friday night I also had a GNO! It had been too long since I had just gone out with the girls. We grabbed taco’s and wine at the local Winery that I am a member of. I know weird combo, but it’s cheap and yummy! We ended up meeting up with my parents and finished the evening with a little karaoke, it was a lot of fun!

IMG_7350

IMG_7357Saturday was DAY ONE of potty training!!!! (see I need the night out before the craziness started). We did the three day method where you don’t leave the house, you don’t use pull-ups and you use the reward system. I am going to do a full post on that soon. The first day RJ had a lot of accidents, but now we are on day three and she’s got it!! We haven’t left the house yet and I am a bit nervous about that.

IMG_7374

Sunday I got to escape from the potty training mahem for a couple hours and did the Run Through Redlands Half Marathon with my beautiful client Lauren. She has been doing my bootcamp for about three months now and we have been running a couple Fridays together. I haven’t run more than 6 miles this past year, but I have been doing SPIN and running for me is more mental than anything so I wanted to pace her and enjoy the run. It rained the WHOLE TIME and was super windy, but we had a great race and the best part was she felt amazing the whole time!!! I can honestly say I am not sore today at all thanks to the Catalyst from Advocare I have been taking!

IMG_7380

After the race I enjoyed my favorite local breakfast, breakfast tacos at Olive Avenue Market.

IMG_7383

The rest of the day was spent potty training and relaxing with the family and there may have been a couple glasses of CHARD enjoyed as well as a cheesy movie or two.

IMG_7388

I am excited for this new week! I have a whole new group of 24 Day Challengers starting for the month of March and they are going to do awesome! I have a full recap of my thoughts on the 24 Day Challenge as well as my results. We got a full new shipment of supplements this weekend and I am not sure who was more excited, me or RJ?!

IMG_7367

Question: What was the highlight of your weekend?

Disney Princess Half Marathon {Recap} https://www.bobbimccormick.com/disney-princess-half-marathon/ Thu, 26 Feb 2015 21:36:47 +0000 http://www.bobbimccormick.com/?p=34356 Well friends, sorry for the week of being MIA! I was out in Florida EXPO-ING it up with team Raw Threads as well as running the Disney Princess Half Marathon! This was my second Disney race and much, much better than my first. This past fall I did the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon (spontaneously), but didn’t really blog about it. It rained from beginning to end and I was thankful just to finish!

Here’s 10 fun things you should know about the Disney Princess Half Marathon:

#1. The races starts at the BUTT CRACK of dawn! They have to get all the runners through before the parks open, so most all races start at 5:30am which means you have to be at the start line at 4:30am and leaving your house or hotel even earlier! In my case 4am and had about 2 hours of sleep because I was not being able to sleep the night before (adrenaline) . Also did I mention I was working a 4 day expo right before the race, yep I am one of those crazy runners…officially!

IMG_7050   IMG_7051

#2. I decided to run in Raw Threads, since they hooked me up with the race entry! It’s so easy to create a LOOK with their clothes. I went as Queen  Elsa, because how cute is this Frozen tank top?! I also had my snowflake capri’s from Raw Threads on, but sadly they aren’t selling them anymore. They are so comfortable, but all of their clothes are. I also wore a bit of sparkle, with my Sparkle Soul head band I got at the expo.

IMG_7044

#3. They have fire works for every corral (yes even the last ones), it makes the start a lot more exciting and you get super pumped up! I was in corral G and it took us about 20 minutes to get to the start line, so all the fireworks made the time fly by.

IMG_7068

#4. There were characters all along the highway from Epcot to Magic Kingdom and every so often there would be some kind of entertainment along the side of the road.  This varied from kites shaped like birds with “Let’s Go Fly A Kite” playing in the background (which was awesome because everyone started singing along!) to characters such as Jack Sparrow and the Heroes, and some music!

IMG_7073 IMG_7078 IMG_7085

#5. We got to run through the Cinderella’s CASTLE!  The first half of the race may have been my favorite and LOVED running before the humidity and heat picked up! But really I was just so excited to run down Main Street and run through Cinderella’s Castle, it made the race special!

IMG_7141  IMG_7091

and even got to wave to Princess Anna and Queen Elsa!

IMG_7093

#6. Yes there were lots of princess, but villains too! I didn’t wait in line to take pictures with a lot of the characters, because the lines were crazy long! But it was still fun to see them all lined up on the side lines.

IMG_7080

and by mile 6 the sun came up and the sky was absolutely beautiful!

IMG_7095 IMG_7097

#7. Even though there are like 20,000 runners in this race (crazy right?!) I managed to still find friends a long the course and chat for a while. I love that it’s an all girls (well mostly) race, everyone is so sweet to run with and they are all super excited to be there!

IMG_7101

#8. Yes, the parks were fun to run through, but you actually race along Disney property outside the park for most of the second half of the race. I didn’t mind, because the views were spectacular. Maybe it’s because I am not used to seeing all of the GREEN!

IMG_7109

#9. All the mile markers, cheer squad signs were super cute and festive! I loved that they had each mile marked and had the time displayed as well. Even though I started almost 30 minutes after the first corral, so my time was off it was still nice to have an estimate.

IMG_7111 IMG_7112 IMG_7113 IMG_7114 IMG_7118

#10. Coming up to the finish line I was feeling GREAT (I still am so surprised how great I felt) and right as I turned the corner I saw Princess Sofia!!! It’s RJ’s favorite princess!!! I got a little teary eyed at this point, because I was missing her big time…but of course I had to get a photo. How cute is she?!

IMG_7119

And then I WAS FINISHED!!! I sprinted to the end and was SOAKED!!! Hello humidity 🙂

IMG_7127

IMG_7122

I loved the metals this year, so girly and fun.

IMG_7125

At the finish I met up with my friend Kate from Raw threads and we celebrated!

IMG_7131

I tried my first Beermosa! A Blue Moon beer with a splash of orange juice.

IMG_7138

A couple race official photos….

Cause, why not?! BE STRONG!

Screen Shot 2015-02-24 at 4.29.08 PM

The rest of the day was spent at Disney World soaking up the sun and enjoying Magic Kingdom!

IMG_7264

I would highly recommend this race for a few reasons:

*HIGH energy from other runners and spectators
*Lots of distractions in every mile, to keep your energy up!
*The opportunity to take pictures with characters if you didn’t care about time
*Getting to wear a costume
*Mostly all girls which made for a really fun atmosphere
*Tons of Disney music
*Running down Main Street and through the castle!
*Flat course
*Real bathrooms in Magic Kingdom!
*Tons of water stops
*VERY ORGANIZED! (but only at mile 9 do they have Guu)

Question: Have you ever run a Disney race?

Temecula Half Marathon 2014 {Recap} https://www.bobbimccormick.com/temecula-half-marathon-2/ https://www.bobbimccormick.com/temecula-half-marathon-2/#comments Wed, 26 Nov 2014 04:51:11 +0000 http://www.bobbimccormick.com/?p=34022 Happy THANKSGIVING WEEK!!

I cant’t believe it’s been over three weeks since I ran the Temecula Half Marathon! Once again it was one of the most challenging and rewarding half marathons I have ever done. This time the weather was absolutely perfect, overcast and 65 the entire time. Last time it was a bit warmer and the sun was beating right on us.

I only trained for about 6 weeks, 2 runs a week for this race, knowing that I was just going to go out and have a lot of fun. Run without my Garmin or any watch for that matter. My goal was to finish with a smile and I sure did and with a wine glass in my hand.

Screen Shot 2014-11-25 at 8.37.01 PM

The best thing about this race was at the finish, we got tasting tickets (sold separately) now red wine didn’t seem so appealing, but a glass of almond champaign from Wilson Creek hit the spot!

Screen Shot 2014-11-25 at 8.36.45 PM

For all the details on what the course was like, you can read my post from last year.

The only bummer with this race was the shuttle into the starting line and at the finish. I know this was the first year that they did the shuttling so there are just a few kinks to work out for sure. When we finally made it back to our cars we went to Starbucks so that I could get changed and cleaned up for Hubby and I to enjoy lunch at our favorite winery (Ponte) and a few wine tastings at South Coast Winery as well.

Screen Shot 2014-11-25 at 8.37.29 PM

Yep, I ate pizza (post fuel of champs) ! Ponte has one of the best winery restaurants EVER! Can you believe this was our first DAY DATE since RJ was born?!

Screen Shot 2014-11-25 at 8.37.58 PM

We had a great day together, but from waking up so early from the drive we ended the fun early and picked up baby girl. I can’t wait to do this race again next year as it is always an event I look forward to!

{Virtual} Coffee Date https://www.bobbimccormick.com/virtual-coffee-date-19/ https://www.bobbimccormick.com/virtual-coffee-date-19/#comments Wed, 22 Oct 2014 14:46:31 +0000 http://www.bobbimccormick.com/?p=33960 Happy HUMP day!

Oh how I love our morning {virtual} coffee dates together. I wish I could seriously sit down with each of you and give you a big warm hug and hear what is going on in each of your lives.

10703629_786278011436431_6252503827629699919_n

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you… how this ‘early bird’ is BACK!

It’s a bit funny how I wake up in the mornings. I roll over look at the time (praying it’s around 5am), look at the baby monitor (praying that RJ is asleep), and if she is I feel like I have won a race! I wanted my body to get used to getting up at 5am on it’s own without an alarm and you know how I did it… by getting up every morning at the same time! And knowing that my yummy pumpkin spice coffee is waiting for me in the kitchen.

It’s the little things people. I also have made it a point to climb into bed before 10pm every night as well. I just love rising early and enjoying a cup of joe while reading God’s word. It sets the tone of the day!

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you… that I am super excited about the half marathon I am doing in Temecula this weekend!

It’s one that I have already done and I know it’s a tough course filled with hills and trails, but afterwards the Hubby and I get to have a ‘day date’ enjoying lunch at my favorite winery and having a relaxing Sunday. We will miss the babe for sure, but it will be nice to have some good quality time together.

IMG_5002

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you… that the Refresh Summit is SOLD OUT! God is so faithful! I am so excited in less than a month we get to worship and workout with some beautiful ladies. I also can’t wait to see my Tennessee family and spend some time in my college neighborhood.

You can still purchase a raffle ticket or 10 until the end of the week to help raise some funds for a scholarship for someone to attend the Summit! There are some incredible gifts that we are giving away! Check it out!

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you… that our Refresh Attire shop CLOSES this Friday. Don’t forget to purchase one of our limited edition t-shirts! This one the Hubby designed and I just love it!

WOMENS_34LS_Yall_BabyBlue-Navy-300x300

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you… that I am working hard at getting the Holiday Shred 2014 READY for this year!

Don’t worry… sign-ups will start Saturday, November 1 with the Shred starting Sunday, November 23rd and go through Christmas. It will be a six-week program filled with Bobbi-Bootcamp style workouts, simpler meal plans, videos, yummy recipes and lots more!

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you… that I am loving The Best Yes book by Lisa Terkurst.

It is challenging me in so many ways and bringing new wisdom into my life. I thought I had saying ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ down pat, but boy was I wrong. I am into chapter 11 of and learning the power of a “small” no. How tempting it is to use NO as a weapon and just decline everything, for freedom in the white spaces. But those white spaces were meant for God’s BEST YES’S. It’s up to us to determine through God’s wisdom what our small No’s are, so we can give our best YES to his greatest assignments.

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you… that we’re dabbling in the thought of moving to Redlands.

Just being open to the idea just in case it is an option. We love our house and we love where we live, but we do a lot in Redlands and it’s a small town where we can walk to everything! It’s just a dream right now, but who knows what’s goona happen 🙂

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you… that I completed my longest bike ride to date this past weekend!

I rode 76 miles with my dear friend Susie! It wasn’t an easy task (that’s for sure), but my legs felt great. I had done some box jumps the day before (not smart) and felt some tension in my back. By mile 50 it was flaring up a bit, but it subsided and I mentally pushed through.

My 100 mile bike ride is less than two weeks away and I know more than anything it will mental more than physical. It’s going to be a beautiful ride in Oceanside and I am so grateful for Gatorade’s sponsorship to make this bucket list dream come true! After this month, I will be back to more strength workouts and less cardio, but for now… let the training press on!!

10509578_786497901414442_7435971584101899449_n

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you… that this season of motherhood is an adventure for sure!

RJ is on the MOVE! Not walking yet, but she is almost there. I am learning to let go of the mess and just enjoy her as much as I can. It’s not an easy task working from home and being a stay at home, but I wouldn’t change it for a minute.

It’s a balancing act daily and just when you think you have got it down, it changes! I have a full blog post on this coming soon.

{Weekend Wrap-Up} Fun in San Diego https://www.bobbimccormick.com/weekend-fun-in-san-diego/ https://www.bobbimccormick.com/weekend-fun-in-san-diego/#comments Tue, 03 Jun 2014 02:56:03 +0000 http://www.bobbimccormick.com/?p=32993 Happy MONDAY!!!

Can you believe that it’s already half way through the year?! Crazy right? Maybe I should look back on my New Year’s Goals and re-evaluate how I am doing. Winking smile How are you doing? June also means summer is just around the corner! Guess I am glad I am SHREDDING it UP with all my June Summer Shredders!

This weekend was kicked off with our #FridayFunDay! I work about 16 hour days all week, between being a Mama, Personal Trainer, Kickboxing Instructor, Blogger,  Retreat Coordinator and Refresh Attire Owner! I love it all so much, but I feel like I just need a day to fully disconnect! So Fridays are our new Sabbath.Smile This Friday we hit up the beach for some fun in the sun. It was amazing!

IMG_2910

This weekend I also had the great pleasure to spectate my first Marathon! I know crazy, right?! My dear friend/running buddy was running her 6th marathon at the Rock and Roll San Diego Marathon. RJ and I tagged along to cheer her on!

IMG_3065

We arrived on Saturday and hit up the EXPO, oh how I love RNR EXPOS! So many fun things to see and taste. There wasn’t too much that I didn’t see at the Boston Marathon Expo, but there were two people that I was thrilled to run into!!! Monica from Run Eat Repeat and Meghann from Meals and Miles! Two of my longest blogger friends who I adore! It was so good to catch up with them and cheer them on in the race as well.

IMG_2969

It was kind of weird going out to dinner with the racers and not trying to “carb load” myself. I did enjoy some pasta because  you have to “when in Little Italy” and some wine. It was kind of nice not worrying about what I was going to eat!

IMG_2985

We hit the hay early and got up even earlier! Thank goodness RJ is an easy baby and an early riser, she was a little champ waking up to say good luck at the start line with Susie.

IMG_3024

The only other time we got a chance to see her was at mile 5. Where we saw Skinny Runner and Monica as well.

Then we headed to the finish line. I have so much respect for spectators, it’s a crazy hot mess out there! Trying to get to the finish line was crazy! But we made it about .6 of a mile out and I got to cheer Susie on one more time and her daughter even jumped in to finish with her!

IMG_3052

She did amazing! Kinda made me want to do another. OH NO! I got all emotional just watching! Races make me such a sap!

IMG_3059

We celebrated with some wonderful Mexican food and of course a Margarita …I mean I did walk about 6 miles with a baby. That counts for something, right?!

IMG_3066

We hit the road and got home in time for SUNDAY baseball!!!! I still had some work to catch up on, but it wasn’t so bad working outside with this view.

IMG_3078

Such a fun weekend!

Question: Have you ever spectated a race?

Boston Marathon 2014 {Recap} https://www.bobbimccormick.com/boston-marathon-2014-recap/ https://www.bobbimccormick.com/boston-marathon-2014-recap/#comments Tue, 06 May 2014 17:40:19 +0000 http://www.bobbimccormick.com/?p=32855 I can’t believe it has been 2 weeks since the Boston Marathon! Where does time go?! THANK YOU ALL for all the encouragement and for the birthday wishes!

IMG_0181

Shall we start the recap back at the night before the race? All kinds of emotions were going on in my head. The first was the feeling that this marathon was going to a lot different than any marathon I had ever run, including the first time I did Boston. You could feel the city’s emotion and tension as you walked around town in anticipation of  “RUN BOSTON STRONG”! I didn’t feel as many sad emotions as much as I felt ready to run for the honor and for the memory of those affected by the 2013 Boston marathon tragedy.

IMG_0088

The best thing about the Boston Marathon is that it doesn’t start until 10:30am so I didn’t have a crazy 4am wake up call. I stayed downtown with a friend, babyless, so that I could try and get the best rest possible. I got a solid 7 hours of sleep, threw all my gear on, and even decided to wear my official race shirt (which is usually a big NO NO for a race). But, I really wanted to sport my blue and yellow!

IMG_0091

My friend Janet and I headed to the Boston Commons around 8am and got on the bus for the long hour ride to the Athlete’s Village-AKA the start line!

IMG_0092

It was WAY MORE crowded than in 2009!!! There was barely an open spot to sit down and stretch.

IMG_0093

IMG_0095

IMG_0098

There were bagels, coffee, PowerBars, and some other fun goodies to enjoy before the start of the race. While we waited I applied my temporary tattoo, which may or may not still be on my leg. Winking smile

IMG_0096

I strolled to the start line. No rush, right? I mean my time didn’t start until I crossed the start line. As I was walking I noticed how much it had warmed up and I quickly had to take my long sleeved shirt off and tie it around my waist. I couldn’t believe how warm it was!

IMG_0102

IMG_0103

I sported some Refresh Attire and my new Boston necklace that Hubby got me for my birthday!

IMG_0108

Before I knew it I was crossing the start line and running my second BOSTON MARATHON!

Miles 1-5

The last time I ran Boston I had a very hard race. By the time I hit mile 17 I was struggling. So for this race, I truly wanted to feel strong until the end. Maybe not fast, but healthy and fit, soaking up everything the race had to offer. I didn’t want to go out to fast (I went out way to fast last time) so I made sure to pay attention to my pace and stay between 8:30 and 9:00. I remember someone once asked me, “Why do you run marathons so fast? Why not just slow down and enjoy the entire race?” So I DID!

IMG_0117

Miles 6-10

These were some of the most fun miles! I loved loved loved all the spectators’ signs and cheers, but I do have to say that I did run with music and it was a huge help! I ran with one earphone in and one out so I could hear everyone scream.

IMG_0149

I loved the spirit of this marathon, random people running up to you giving you high fives, handing you oranges, popsicles (I had two), and filling me with such JOY!

IMG_0120

‘The Boston marathon is actually a really pretty race. The trees are really beautiful and I loved seeing all the historic homes.

IMG_0124

IMG_0126

Miles 10-15

My half marathon time was 1:52:22 . Last time  it was WAY FASTER and way too FAST! I was so happy that I was listening to my body. During my training, I did experience some planters fasciitis and had to get new shoes. At this point in the race it started to act up a little because of all the down hill, but it wasn’t so bad that I felt like it was slowing me down. I recognized the pain and moved on from there. People always talk about the hills of Boston, but honestly the mix of both really is what makes runners sore the next day!

Miles 15-20 THE HILLS!!!!

This time I was ready for HEARTBREAK HILL! Last time I ran I didn’t realize that it wasn’t just one hill (my bad for not looking at the course).

IMG_0129

IMG_0128

IMG_0131

Honestly I was really proud of myself for maintaining my speed and drive up those hills, no bad thoughts just smiles, and I didn’t walk once! I encouraged those around me and then turned up the music and dug deep! The hardest thing about these hills is the placement. It’s not that they are super steep (well they are) but more than anything they are tough because they start where most people hit their walls!!!

IMG_0139IMG_0138

Miles 20-24

IMG_0171

This was a freeing moment for me. I hadn’t hit a wall. I was feeling really good minus being a little warm from the weather. I was ready to finish. My mantra at this point was “Finish with your head high and your heart out!” I think this sign about a random stranger may have made me laugh all along the way!!!! I mean that’s what the Boston Marathon is all about: cheering on complete strangers and being a part of the experience!

IMG_0144

Gotta love Santa at the top of the last HILL!

THE FINISH LINE

This was it. I was about to finish my second Boston Marathon and I seriously had to hold back the tears at mile 23! I started getting super emotional as this may be my last Boston Marathon and my last marathon for awhile. I had sacraficed many hours of training, pushing a stroller, afternoon runs in the 90 degree heat, running on 4 hours of sleep for this moment!!! But then I knew that I couldn’t wait to one day tell my daughter about this race and how she could do it one day if she wanted because it’s not about talent or being born a fast runner…but it is about discipline and determination! I knew that I would finish well and finish STRONG…BOSTON STRONG!

Expo West + {Weekend Wrap-Up} https://www.bobbimccormick.com/expo-west-weekend-recap/ https://www.bobbimccormick.com/expo-west-weekend-recap/#comments Tue, 11 Mar 2014 04:00:35 +0000 http://www.bobbimccormick.com/?p=32475 I got the chance to visit my first ever Natural Products Expo West (#ExpoWest) this past weekend! Let me be honest I was a bit overwhelmed and ecstatic all at the same time. There were a lot of brands that I was pretty familiar with, but also a lot of new ones that I had never heard of before or that were just launching at the Expo! If you want to read a great post about the things that were trending at the Expo, check out my girl Melissa’s post!

IMG_5977

I think the things that I loved most about the Expo was the “newbie” floor. This was the area for folks that were exhibiting for the very first time. There were so many stories to be told and dreams to be shared! I loved how some of them starting baking in their very own kitchens. Then, before they knew it not only family and friends were enjoying their products but neighbors and friends of friends! They never dreamed that they would see their products on a shelf of  Whole Foods. One of the things that I love best about being a blogger is networking with so many different brands and connecting with some pretty talented people. I could list them all of for ya, but honestly I am pretty sure that it would take up several pages!!!

IMG_5986

IMG_5966IMG_5968IMG_5962IMG_5956IMG_5944IMG_5925IMG_5929

Not only did I walk about 5 miles all over the Expo, I did my first 18 mile run for my Boston Marathon training Saturday morning! It actually was my best long run in a long time! I think starting at 5am and the weather being absolutely perfect really helped. I had two Gu’s one at mile 8 and another at mile 12. I really enjoyed every minute of the run. (That has not happened in a while.)

IMG_5909

Oh and guess who turned 6 months this weekend? CRAZY right?!

IMG_5882

I also decided to do 40 days of yoga for Lent this year. Instead of giving something up, I decided to add something. I decided to use this time of Lent as refreshment for my soul. Speaking of Refreshment, you still have time to sign up for the Refresh Summit!

IMG_5833

I managed to get dressed this weekend Winking smile

IMG_6001

I had to wear my polka dots so I could match this cutie pie. She pulls them off a lot better than I do!

IMG_6004

We tried the Flame Broiler for the first time this weekend, it was a lot like Waba Grill. I liked that the meat tasted fresh and that you could order extra veggies or BROWN rice!

IMG_6005

To celebrate the warm weekend we drove out to Pinkberry! Seriously, it’s my all time favorite treat. I know not everyone is a fan, but for some reason when I crave something sweet Pinkberry always hits the spot!

IMG_6017

For Hubby, a Reese’s the size of RJ hits his sweet tooth.

IMG_6012

So I said what the heck it’s your birthday month, go for it!

IMG_6010

We walked around the mall a bit and then headed to the park!

IMG_6023

We took our shoes off, soaked up the sun and had some appetizers.

IMG_6030

Then, we captured some pretty sweet moments of this beauty.

IMG_6055

IMG_6062

I mean really, could this little girl be any cuter?! I think not!

IMG_6052

We were pleasantly surprised to get a spontaneous date night! Once a week and going strong.

IMG_6059

So we capped off the weekend with some of Darby’s beef sliders and a glass of wine!

IMG_6060

Such a fun and beautiful weekend! So thankful for the perfect weather and some memories made while soaking up my favorites.

Question: Did this post make you hungry or what?!
