These day’s my workout schedule is pretty consistent with the occasional change up. I would love to do a fun new plan, like Ashley Horner’s Pipehitter or another round of Jamie Eason’s 16 week live fit trainer, but right now if I can get in anything I am happy! This plan is perfect for where I am in my life right now. I am not trying to make any huge gains or lose any weight, just stay toned and get my endorphins going so I have energy to chase the little.

The saying “Fit So I Can be MOM” has nothing to do with losing weight post baby (for me), because obviously I didn’t have to do that. For me it means fit so I can hold my daughter, fit so I can climb out of the crib when I fall asleep with her, fit so I can crawl on the floor and be a living jungle gym, fit so I can run in the grass and play hide and go seek for hours, fit so I can sqaut down and tie my daughters shoe’s, fit so I can have the energy to no be trashed by the end of the day so I can be a great wife…the list goes on.

So right now in my life I am sticking to the two days of Spin at the local YMCA where they have wonderful childcare for RJ, I teach TRX at 5:30am before the family rises, Wednesdays I do Spin again, Thursday I normally rest unless I have to teach and sometimes I will take a TRX class, Friday’s RJ and I go for a fun run, and Saturday’s I go to kickboxing at the studio I teach at for a little change up! I don’t want to spend hours at the gym, I want to get it in and BE DONE! The less time away from the family the better, but the time I do spend is so I can be the best version of myself!

Sometimes I miss workouts cause RJ isn’t well and I am ok with taking time away from the gym (such a different mindset for me). I am ok with resting a whole week if I need to, but still sticking to a clean balanced diet if I can. I truly believe that 80% of what you look like is because of what you EAT! Abs are made in the kitchen friends! So for now, I will soak up this season and enjoy each step I can get in!

Do you ever have days like that? It must be because my weekend was JAMMED PACKED with all kind of amazing adventures.

Friday I got in my first “real” run since the marathon! It was 2.5 miles of glory! It felt good just to run for fun, no training, no intensions, just out for a run. I also did another awesome GPP workout, I am loving these workouts!

I am teaching a interval/bags class on Monday and Wednesdays mornings at 6:15am, for the months of June and July!!!!  Today I also kicked off Summer Shred Round 2, the Extreme Summer Shred and another wonderful group of MAMA Shredders!!!!! Love all the women that are making BIG changes and getting healthy!!!!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! I know it’s Tuesday, but my weekend pretty much started yesterday as I worked all the way through Sunday. I am super excited about this upcoming weekend, because it’s Hubby’s birthday and we were going to SPRING TRAINING! I f you are new to the blog, you must know that Matt and I have such a strong LOVE of BASEBALL! We fell in love over the darn sport and look forward to SPRING and SUMMER every year, just so we can head to ball game and celebrate the all American game! Oh I can’t wait!

This weekend Hubby was out of town with his buddies watching the American Baseball Classic while I was at work. Thank goodness for awesome friends who have me over for dinner and a movie and let me crash their Family nights! We made homemade mini pizzas Vegan style! The veggie pepperoni was a fun little addition Smile Not really into processed meats, but it was fun!

Saturday I got in a killer NROL session in with Amy. There is a MATRIX CIRCUIT that we were doing once or twice a week that is KILLER!!! OUR LEGS ARE SHAKING AT THE END! Want to try it?

Sunday after work, Val and I crushed 8 miles of hills! It was all up hill for 4 miles and then we coasted down the last half. I think the down hill killed my legs more then the up!!

Sunday after all the running around, my Daddy and Step Mom were so sweet to have me over for a lovely dinner. He knows me so well, we started off with a cocktail hour on the porch with lots of veggies and a glass of red. Loving the time change for the longer nights, but hating it for the early mornings!

Cleaned the entire house and got ready for our first Soul Sisters dinner and prayer night.

I started a Women’s Bible Study through Proverbs with about 15 ladies and we meet on Facebook and once a month for dinner and fellowship at my house. I prayed for God to show me who to invite and the response was wonderful!

I was inspired by the SheReadsTruth Study.  I wanted something that was easy for people to commit to, with their busy schedules and I wanted to bless each of them with a dinner that they didn’t have to prepare for once. I kept it simple and made spaghetti (but healthified if of course) good thing they are all so great and don’t mind my healthy cooking. I am already looking forward to next month!

I can’t believe I have been doing the NROL for Women for 3 weeks already. I am noticing a huge difference in my WHOLE BODY! My arms are feeling stronger, my legs are toning up and HELLO tight abs!

I have made a new commitment to practice YOGA again! I have been making too many excuses for not going to my favorite YOGA studio (Inner Evolution Yoga). Yoga helps, my mind, body and SOUL!

#4. FOOD

After the Crazy Sexy Challenge, my eating hasn’t changed. I am sticking to 90% vegan diet and enjoying a glass of wine once and a while as well as fish. Sticking to a plant protein and clean eats as much as possible. I FEEL AMAZING!

Had my first taste of meat last week too in 24 days. The Salmon was great and didn’t bother my stomach at all. Gotta love the healthy choices at Waba Grill.

Sticking to JUICING every morning! My green juice of choice is, 1 cucumber, fistful of kale, 1 inch of ginger, 2 green apples, parsley and a lemon. After watching Fat Sick and Nearly Dead I am pretty sure I will juice for the rest of  my life!

#5. RECIPES!!!

I have been a cooking machine lately. Loving my dutch oven, I am not sure how I ever lived without it. I have been cooking out of the Crazy Sexy Kitchen Cookbook and every recipe is amazing!

I made these roasted Portobello mushrooms and kale  from the Whole Living Magazine and now I am hooked!

…and you MUST make this recipe from Cooking Light Magazine, Chickpea Curry ! It’s seriously the easiest and quickest meal I have ever made! The recipe calls for Greek Yogurt, but you could use a non-dairy sour cream as well.

CHICKPEA CURRY

Modified From Cooking Light Magazine

Ingredients:
  • 2 teaspoons peanut oil
  • 2 teaspoons cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped onion
  • 6 cups baby spinach
  • 2 tablespoons minced peeled fresh ginger
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons Garam Masala (in the Indian food section at your local market)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup chopped plum tomato (about 1 large) $
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 (15 1/2-ounce) cans chickpeas (garbanzo beans), rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt or non-dairy sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 cup brown rice

Preparation:
  1. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add cumin, coriander; cook 30 seconds or until fragrant, stirring constantly. Add onion, and cook for 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Add ginger and garlic; cook 30 seconds, stirring constantly. Stir in garam masala, and cook 10 seconds, stirring constantly. Stir in 1 cup water, tomato, salt, spinach and chickpeas; bring to a simmer. Cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; . Stir in yogurt and cilantro. Enjoy on top of a bed of brown rice.

#6. PINTEREST HAIR

I had some free time this weekend and decided to play with some Pinterest ideas that I have been dying to try on my hair! I have been trying to only wash my hair twice a week and have been using Suave’s Dry Shampoo! I LOVE IT! I love the great texture it adds to my hair and makes my hair have a whole lot more volume. I finally learned how to make a bump ponytail without using a bump-it! I also followed this video and CUT MY OWN bangs!

#7. SIMPLIFY

We are also doing some major SIMPLIFYING around the house. Getting rid of extra clothes, workout clothes, dishes, and all sorts of things that our house over the past 5 years has added.

#8. NEW TASK APP

I love task apps on my iPhone and recently I have been using the ANY.DO app and I LOVE IT! It creates folders for you to keep lists in. Because I am a list maker this is perfect. You can create a task in the folder with a date and time reminder or just make it without the date and time. I also love the clean font as well, and it’s FREE! It was a little tricky to use at first, but now I am addicted.

#9. WUNDER UNDERS

I am also LOVING my new WUNDER UNDERS from Lululemon. I got money from my mother in law for Christmas and I have been eying them forever! I love that I can wear them as leggings, then to yoga, and even to run in!  I got the CROPS and I do think they are worth every penny!

#10. BEST DARK CHOCOLATE EVER

I have brought DARK chocolate back in my life. I am not a huge sweets person, so when I say this is the best dark chocolate I have ever tasted, I MEAN IT! How can you go wrong when my favorite type of wine (Cabernet) is added to my favorite chocolate! I got this in a swag bag a while ago and I kinda forgot about it in the freezer. Let’s just say I am rushing out to find it in stores today!!!

Thaw it out weekend workout:

Run in place for 3 minutes…..get the heart rate up.

1) 10 push ups…start on toes go to the knees if necessary.

2) 25 squats…get the booty down as far as you can!

3) 30 second Planks…rotate from elbows to hands

4) 15 dips…back to a chair and dip away!

5) 30 seconds of jumping jacks….try a minute if you feel ambitious!

**Repeat 2-4 times and you will surely have thawed out a bit along with burning some calories!

If you are interested in the book, I thought I would share one of Jillian’s workouts as a little sneak peek to what I have been doing the past 12 days!

Circuit #1:
-Wide Grip Lat Pulldowns (pyramid up w/ weight, 1st 20 reps, 2nd 12 reps, 3rd 8 reps, 40 total)
-Dumbbell Row (15 reps)
-Lunges (Basic, 50 on alternation legs, 25 ea. leg)
-1 min high knees

Circuit #2
-Low Dumbbell Rows (15 reps)
-Seated Hamstring Curls (5 reps)
-Step ups (20 reps ea. leg, 40 total)
-1 min high knees

Circuit #3
-Crab Walk (10 steps forward)
-Reverse Plank (5 leg lifts on ea. leg, 10 total)
-Crab Walk (10 steps back)

Hope you are all having a beautiful Sunday with family and friends. Here is a fun little weekend workout for you all to try at home!! It’s not too late to get in a little cardio workout.

What you will need:You and an open space.
Time:30-40 minutes

Do each set 2 times and then move on to the next set. Or if you want more of a challenge do the set 3x’s!

Set #1.
1. (20) Sumo Squats
2. (20) Leg Lifts
3. (25) Jump Squats
Cardio Blast: (15) Up Downs

Set #2.
1. (10 each side) Single Leg Dead Lift
2. (20)Tricep Dips
3. (15) Pushups
Cardio Blast: (30) Mountian Climbers

Set#3.
1.(10 each side) side plank crunches
2.( 20) plank to full planks
3. (20) scissor crunches
Cardio Blast: 180 degree squats

P.S. I can’t belive last year this time I was getting ready to run the Chicago Marathon with three of my favorite ladies, Kelly, Meghann, and Theodora!

Run: 18.5 miles much better!

Recap of the week: Such a great week! I got in some awesome runs and swims which were so needed. I feel really strong and I know that this week is going to be just as good! Only 4.5 more weeks 🙂 I can’t believe my training is almost over!

I plan on showing you all how I fuel very soon!

Oh and I promise my news will come tomorrow 🙂

Gotta go teach KB, I haven’t taught in 3 weeks, I miss everyone!
