3-Ingredient Margarita: Lime, Agave and Tequila {Recipe}

margarita

You all know that I love a good glass of vino on occasion, but with summer here and lots of grilling happening sometimes a refreshing margarita just hits the spot. I don’t like how restaurants add a lot of extra sugar and calories that aren’t necessary, so I have a go-to, at-home, 3-ingredient recipe that I love and stick with.

Beware: if you are used to super sweet margaritas, you may want to add a little more lime juice or even throw in some blended watermelon.

3-Ingredient Margarita:

Adapted from http://www.averiecooks.com/

INGREDIENTS:

1 to 1 1/2 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
2 oz. Water
1 to 2 oz. Tequila
1 tbsp. Agave Nectar (or to taste)
Ice

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Over a large cup, squeeze the limes (approx. 2 medium/large ripe limes).
  2. Add the water, tequila, and agave. Stir. Taste to see if any changes need to be made.
  3. Add ice generously, and stir or shake. (You can complete this recipe in a shaker.)
  4. Serve immediately.

This would go perfectly with some spicy fish tacos!

*This recipe is intended for those who are of the legal age to drink. Please drink responsibly.

Question: What is your favorite cocktail or mocktail to enjoy over the summer?

  1. Love! Margaritas are great, but you’re right, I often find them too sweet and after one I’m done. So this version looks perfect! Thanks for sharing! Hmmm…favorite summer drink? It would have to be raspberry vodka with soda and lime garnish. Actually, that’s my staple year-round drink, but it’s even better in the summer=)

  2. This is totally happening! I love Cucumber-Watermelon Vodka over ice with water and slices of each for garnish!
