Every Day is Earth Day: A Giveaway

I know Earth Day was last week…but at Nature’s Path, every day is Earth Day.  They have really taken some big steps on their path to being more organic. Here are some of the organic things they are doing right now!

Non-GMO

An early supporter and board member of the Non-GMO Project, Nature’s Path has always been committed to organics and working in harmony with nature.  Now, Nature’s Path products have passed a rigorous, independent verification process and bear the Non-GMO Project Verified Seal.  This seal lets consumers know Nature’s Path products are the best choices in order to avoid genetically modified organisms.

Gardens for Good Grant

In a continued commitment to increasing organic acreage and providing access to high-quality, healthy organic food, Nature’s Path partnered with Organic Gardening magazine on the "Gardens for Good Grant" contest.  The Grant is an effort to “plant it forward” and help put organic gardens in the communities in the U.S. that need them most.  Two deserving communities – Vallejo People’s Garden in Vallejo, Calif. and Damayan Garden Project in Tallahassee, FL – were selected to receive the $25,000 grant package along with a donation of Nature’s Path products to help fill the pantries of local food banks in communities receiving the grant package.  Stay tuned, we will be doing to grant again this year!

Packaging

The path to sustainability is now paved with recyclable, resealable, stand-up cereal bags.  The new Eco Pacs offer numerous savings, including:

· 437 tons of paperboard saved per year, which equals about 2,237,440 newspapers!

· 7,464 million BTUs of total energy saved, which equals the energy used by over 24,965 100W light bulbs for 1 year!

· 1,389,323 lbs of greenhouse gases saved, which is like taking 225 cars off the road for 1 year!

· 826,542 gallons of wastewater saved, which equals about 1.5 Olympic swimming pools!

· 248,383 lbs of solid waste diverted, which equals the garbage from 350 people for 1 year!

Nature’s Path Love Crunch is the perfect marriage between the whole grain goodness of flax granola; the sweetness of strawberries and the tartness of raspberries; and the decadence of coconut and dark chocolate chunks.  Inspired by a true-life love story and philanthropic endeavor, Love Crunch was created by Arjan Stephens, son of Nature’s Path’s founder, and his wife, Rimjhim as a wedding favor for those who helped celebrate their marriage.  In lieu of wedding gifts, the two asked guests volunteer in their communities.  Now a limited edition cereal sold at Whole Foods, for every box of Love Crunch sold, Nature’s Path will donate $1 – up to $25,000 – to the Whole Planet Foundation to help empower poor women around the world to lift themselves and their families out of poverty.

Pumpkin-n-Spice Granola Bars are a flavorful organic snack option sure to satisfy any craving with mineral-rich roasted pumpkin seeds, Omega-3 rich flaxseeds and a dash of cinnamon.  Proving good things really do come in small packages; the new bars are packaged in a more sustainable box with 36% less cardboard, saving 472,000 gallons of water and 46 tons of waste yearly.
