HER WEDNESDAY WORKOUT TIPS: Mix it up!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Last night after work I came home and started heating things up in the kitchen. All day I was excited about cooking dinner. I have been wanting to try baked tofu, the Gliding Calm way and after seeing Kath’s dinner the other night, I knew I had to try it!

The Main Rubs:

I also made some sweet potato fries to go on the side, I added EVOO, a little Cajun spice, and some cinnamon. I loved the sweetness and spice mixed together!!!

food 017 I baked them for 40 minutes at 450 degrees and then threw them in the broiler for about 3 minuets or so, a little too long because they got a little crispy, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying them!!!

the whole meal was amazing, I can’t believe I haven’t tried this sooner. I just wish I could have had some Kale with it, but the fresh peas were delicious!

While dinner was cooking in the oven I did my Jillian’s 30 Shred Video Level 2, which is seriously getting my HR up so high! I need to wear my HR monitor next time so I can actually see if it’s going up as much as I think it is. The workout is only 20 minutes, but I am sweating like it’s an HOUR! At one point I wanted to throw the dumbbell at the screen (no worries I didn’t), but that’s how hard she pushes me. I am also using 10 pound weights too, it does make it a lot tougher.I might have to  pick up some lighter hand weights too.

SIDE NOTE:

Can I show you my true love in my kitchen, I call her Whitey:

food 011She came with our house when we bought it! I love her, she so antique and has a bunch of character. She has two oven’s, which I so use all the time, the burners work like new, and there are all these wonderful attachments that you can hook up to her, that I still haven’t gotten too. I love the old timer and button’s they make me feel like a little old house wife:) Just thought I would share her with you all. Old is BETTER! As you can see our kitchen theme colors are orange and green, it is my favorite room in the house.

My stomach still isn’t feeling right I forgot to mention that after dinner I made some home made chocolate pudding that has a lot of milk in it. Seeing as I am lactose intolerant, that was a bad decision to eat it!!! I am suffering today, I called work and let them know I will be in a little later, hopefully my stomach will be back to normal by then.

HER WEDNESDAY WORK OUT TIPS:

Today’s workout tip comes from the wonderful Fitnessista:

Today’s tip: Make sure that every workout is different. Your body gets used to doing the same thing over and over, kicks into cruise control and that’s when plateaus can occur. Something small—like adding in intervals, different weight exercises, switching up the order of exercises and cardio—will shock your muscles and enable change. Never allow your workout to become “comfy”.

I couldn’t have said it better myself!!! I am a runner but more then that I am an ATHLETE!!! Don’t get stuck doing the same thing your body won’t change into the lean machine that it can be:)

GIVE-AWAY!!!

I have a contest that I am posting this afternoon, you don’t want to miss it. I shall post it at noon so stay tuned!!!! Also check out Runtofinish’s Freebies post!!!!

P.S. Thanks for all the wonderful comments about friendships yesterday, it made me want to be an even BETTER FRIEND!!!!
