Here are a few things I walked away with:
I think community is one the things that we do best at Forest Home. We are constantly getting together and sharing each others stories, having fun together, and working hard as a team. Community in itself is so important to us, but it is also really important to ME!
Hubby and I have been blessed by having some amazing people in our community, from our family, Thursday night friends, bloggers, best friends from High School,co-workers, and our neighbors. Each one of these people have played such a huge role in who we have become.
POCKET OF GREATNESS
We were asked to read the book, “Good to Great and the Social Sectors†before we went on our retreat. It’s only a 30 page monograph to the book Good to Great. I have read Good to Great, and LOVED it! So I was excited to see what else Collins had to share about Social Sectors(non profit business’s).
OK I KNOW THIS STUFF MIGHT BORE YOU!!!!
Just hear me out on this one point. Yes, we learned stuff about our business and how we can be better at what we do, but I think these ideas can be shared in our everyday lives.
LOVE THESE QUOTES!
“Greatness is not a function of circumstances. Greatness, it turns out, is largely a matter of conscious choice, and discipline.†–Jim Collins
Just because you are going through something that isn’t “EXACLTY†what you planned doesn’t’ mean you can’t be living a GREAT life. I know pressing on in hard times can be really difficult, but it’s an active choice. CHOOSE JOY! I know I have said this so many times, but it is so true.
“Greatness is an inherently dynamic process, not an end point. The moment you think of yourself as great, your slide toward mediocrity will have already begun.â€
WOW! So true. There are many things in my life that I need to strive to get better at and today is the day to start 🙂
Questions: Is your attitude a function of only circumstance? Have you been sliding mediocrity in any area of your life?
