Mount Whitney Part II: Conquering

We did it!!!

On Saturday morning we woke up bright and early had some oatmeal and coffee and took off for our 10 mile hike round trip to the top of Mount Whitney.

When we got up and looked at those peaks I was a little nervous, because I wasn’t feeling 100%. I had maybe an hour or two of sleep and it was cold. I said, “Whatever I am going to do this, because I can!!”. I was really sad, because Hubby got really sick and it wasn’t a good idea for him to go any higher.

Last rest before we took on the monster.

We started climbing and the altitude was really getting to all of us. We just made sure to do mini breaks and enjoy the view. See the patch of water below that was right behind our camp site.

Ok look to the right of the lake, see the tents, yep in the middle of nowhere.

I wanted to pack as light as possible so instead of a “real” lunch I just grabbed some Jerky and snacks.

Here we are the top of Mt. Whitney!!!

They have a book that everyone can sign, I signed it with pride!

Loved that they had an easy button on it!! How fun 🙂

“I can do all things with Christ who strengthens me!”

When we got back Hubby had dinner on the stove 🙂

I tried this Indian Fare Japer Vegetables from TJ’s, it was really good!

I would eat this normally, just a little spicy!

We slept hard that night (maybe four hours) and then got up, packed up, refilled our water, and made our way down the hill.

DSC02340

Going down hill is so much nicer then going up!! But, tougher on our knees and back.

DSC02341

My hands were so swollen from the elevation I could barely even close them.

The meadows…

When we got down the hill we all knew we wanted to have one of the downtowns “Famous” Burgers!!!

DSC02351

This pace was so funny it had every thing a local restaurant would have right? DVD store, ice-cream parlor, karaoke stage, pool table….

I ordered their Famous Burger with mushrooms and avocado, HOLY YUM!!!

I ate the whole thing and loved every minute of it! I am on vacation right?!

We got home around 3pm yesterday and I just crashed..well blogged..then crashed!!

I was supposed to get up at 4:30am and run 20 miles, but when I woke up my body was screaming at me!! My back, my calves, ankle, and my shoulders are so sore. I feel like I ran a marathon. I sadly had to tell Susie that I was going to have to cancel, she was very understanding and told me to rest.

So I did, I slept in until 7 and got up and started packing for our trip up to San Fran! I can’t wait to get on the road and enjoy the coast 🙂

I AM STILL LOOKING FOR A RUNNING

BUDDY FOR SAN FRAN?!! ANYONE IN

THE AREA WANT TO RUN????!

Time to get packing!

  1. Howdy, I’m sure your internet site could possibly be having web browser compatibility problems. Once i take a look at your site web site in Safari, this looks fine yet any time starting in Ie, it’s got several overlapping. I just now required to provide you with an instant brains in place!
