Holly was so kind to answer some of my questions about her article on Sexy Bikini Body Foods  on! I figured this would be useful for all of us as Sunday was the first day of summer!

My first question for you is about your job at what is it that you exactly do?

I am a dietitian and food editor for  I oversee the Healthy Diet channel as well as our special seasonal channels like Grilling, Tailgating, Holidays, etc. I also have a daily video franchise called Dinner Tonight,29865,1815530,00.html that features a healthy and quick recipes that takes less than 45 minutes to prepare. On top of those responsibilities, I also serve as a spokesperson for the site on TV, radio, and print.

always hear about how what you eat is what you will look like, so is it true that 80% of your healthy depends on what you eat?

I’m not sure about that percentage but I do think there is a huge tie between a healthy diet and a healthy body. 

Are there any specific types of foods, besides fried,  that will keep you from getting that Sexy Bikini Body?

Watch out for foods that are high in saturated fats—whole milk, fatty meat, poultry skin, etc. These foods are loaded with calories and are not good for your body. Also, try to limit the amount of refined and processed foods you consume.

I see in your article that eating whole grains can slim your waist line what would you say is a good size portion of whole grains with a meal?

The 2005 Dietary Guidelines recommend that Americans “make half their grains whole.” This means most people should consume at least three or more servings of whole grains each day.

The Dietary Guidelines define a serving (or “ounce-equivalent”) of grain as 1 slice of 100% whole grain bread, a cup of 100% whole grain cereal, or 1/2 cup of 100% whole grain hot cereal, cooked pasta, rice or other grain.

I am lactose intolerant so I don’t drink any dairy I choose almond milk will this effect my body in the long run?

Dairy products have many essential vitamins and minerals like calcium, potassium, and vitamins A and D. If you aren’t getting these nutrients through dairy, just make sure to get them from other sources. If you could give my readers one piece of advise for getting that Bikini Body what would it be?

Don’t put yourself on a crash diet to try to lose large amounts of weight at one time. The combination of a healthy diet with physical activity with shed the pounds faster than you think—just give yourself time.

She was so sweet to even go as far as asking another R.D. friend about my calcium question! Here is what they said:

“Almond milk  is more almond juice , not a true milk, therefore she would be missing the health benefits of that dairy provides.More importantly, most LI people can enjoy yogurt and cheese without any digestion problems because these are  lower in lactose.”
