Running 26.2 miles and turning the big 27 has been a lifetime experience. Not only did I get to celebrate finishing the Boston Marathon I also got to celebrate my BIRTHDAY and I couldn’t pick a better city to do it in.
After the big marathon day we headed out downtown to celebrate! We took a bus to the North End, and then waked about a mile. I know a lot of you said that it was funny that I enjoyed Boston’s transportation system, but I just love that it’s there and accessible to use!
We ate in the “Little Italy†of Boston at a restaurant called Cantina Italiana.
The restaurant was very classy yet casual with a fun atmosphere. We ordered a bottle of Cab to kick of the fun evening.
We had some yummy sourdough bread to start the feast going!
For the main course I ordered Bombolotti alla Buongustaia; Homemade Bombolotti pasta, tossed with spicy Italian sausage, fresh basil and marinara sauce, topped with parmigiano and fresh goat cheese, baked to perfection!!! There is nothing like home-made pasta noodles. I felt like an empty machine, I could have eaten two of these!
The Gang(minus Christina and Dan who so graciously hosted us:)).
I was also was serenaded by a man with an accordion, he played the cutest medley of Sinatra’s Hits!
After dinner we went to the “infamous†Mike’s Pastries right next door! I couldn’t make up my mind on what I wanted because everything looked so delicious, so we all split three slices of cake and a cappuccino. Three of my favorites, Carrot Cake, German Chocolate Cake, and Oreo Cookie Cheese Cake(these are the only cakes I actually like). All of these cakes were DEVINE!!!
The stirrer was an old fashion rock candy stick! YUM! I love capp’s I never have them, I need to bust out the espresso machine when I get back home.
It was late and the crowd were still pouring in, this place is a hit in Boston. My friend Christina told me that people who visit Boston take boxes home full of stuff to share with their families.
After dessert we hit up some of the oldest Pubs in Boston. I may or may not have had an Irish Bomb, but it was a pretty young night because around 11pm this lady was sooooo tired!!! We caught a cab home and called it a night, and a perfect night it was.
Thank you family, friends, and bloggies for making my 27th birthday go down in the books:)
So far on our east coast trip, we have been to Philly, NJ, and D.C.. Lots of eating and walking. Here are a few pics of our fun adventures more of the fun to come soon…
Were headed to NYC today, I can’t wait to show Hubby the BIG CITY!
