Tuesday Feeding the Soul: The Art of Being Still

WOW I wasn’t expecting so many amazing comments from my last post. I knew that money was a hot topic, but I just didn’t know how hot it was. I loved everybody’s tips and questions, I will be doing another installment of “Life on a Budget” soon, to answer all your questions.

Also WELCOME new readers, I noticed there are a lot of new commenter’s out there, I want to thank you for stopping by and leaving you words of wisdom!!!

Back to some FOOD! Sunday night Hubby and I were exhausted(well at least I was), after teaching AKB this weekend and my 14 mile run the last thing I wanted to do was make supper. In the spirit of saving money I looked in the fridge and decided to finally try and make a Frittata! I found a simple recipe online and then added in my OWN healthy twist.

Her Easy Bake Frittata the “healthy way”

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 eggs, 3 egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons soy milk
  • 1/2 chopped small red onion
  • handful of fresh baby spinach
  • 2 Roma tomatoes chopped
  • 4 mushrooms chopped
  • handful of low fat cheddar cheese
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro, divided
  • some pepper and salt to taste

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Beat eggs and water with wire whisk in medium bowl. Stir in all veggies, the cheese and 2 tablespoons of the cilantro.
  2. Pour into greased 9-inch pie plate.
  3. Bake 30 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Sprinkle with remaining cilantro.

I love starting my day off with Yoga, it helps me relax and prepare for the day, even though it is difficult at times.

DINNER

When I got home from teaching AKB last night, I didn’t want my normal bowl of Monday Dinner Cereal because I had for breakfast. So I made a bowl of Pumpkin OATS instead!

and then I passed out from the exhaustion of the day!

RISE AND SHINE 5:30AM WAKE UP CALL

It’s Tuesday morning and time to ROCK AND ROLL, well at least I am trying…lol…it has been extremely cold here in SO CAL, currently it is 27 degrees where I live. It rained all weekend, here is a picture of Hubby’s work he works about 30 minutes north of us.

Needless to say he is working from home today. I woke up early so I could get pumped to go out for my run, it is so HARD for me to run in this weather. I think I am going to do my Jillian’s 30 shred video instead and do my run at the gym this evening:) I know I hate running on the treadmill, but it’s an easy 4 miles so I think I will be ok.

REPORT: Sexy Six Pack Challenge

It’s not over yet but I must say, it has definitely pushed me this week. Not to mention (I don’t say this to be vein) but yesterday I got three compliments at the gym and at work about how toned I am looking. One girl even said that I look SOLID!!! WOW what a compliment. I guess it’s from all the combination of exercise I have been doing, not to mention eating well.

TIME TO FEED THE SOUL: The Art of Being Still

Let’s talk about stillness, shall we. This week to feed your soul, I wanted to talk about the ART of being STILL. I am not sure if I have talked about this yet on my blog, so if I have please pardon me for the repeat. Being still is a true art form. It is when a person finds stillness within them, to let go of all distractions and stresses that are surrounding them. HA! This is hard. My mind goes a million miles a minute, and rarely takes a second to stop and rest, but I NEED it!

For me being still means complete relaxation, burning some candles and resting next to the fireplace without a BOOK, COMPUTER, JUST NOTHING! Me and my empty thoughts. Practicing stillness is so very important for our body, mind, and souls. We get so wrapped up in our to do list, and our minds get on overdrive. Everyday we need to practice being still for at LEAST 15 minutes of our day. I know it’s hard, even for me (the busiest person in the world), but if I put my mind to it and just do it, I know I will be refreshed and rejuvenated throughout the entire day.

Do you have this art form down, or is it something you need to work on? How do you practice stillness?

WRAP UP

Alright folk me and Jillian have a hot date, gotta run. I have to run a bunch of errands before work today, hitting up the post office to send off some packages and then gotta put money in the bank. Hope this week you have gotten to reflect on the importance of LOVE and not just the HALLMARK HOLIDAY of Valentine’s Day.

P.S Today is the last day to get in your comments for the the Naturally Nutty Give-Away! Contest ends at midnight!
