We have been craving some Italian food here at the McCormick house (when are we not?). So I came up with an Italian Turkey Burger that is restaurant worthy, but super simple ๐
Turkey Italian Burgers
Ingredients:
1 lb turkey meat (this will feed 6 people)
1 tbsp Italian Parsley
1 tbsp Thyme
1 tbsp red pepper (you can add more if you can handle heat)
Salt and Pepper
2-3 tbsp Vital Wheat Gluten (instead of an egg)
1 cup marinara sauce
Couple handfuls of shredded mozzarella cheese
I picked this Vital Wheat Gluten at Whole Foods. It’s not normally used as a binder for meat, but I read online that you can use it when making Turkey Burgers to help them not fall apart. I think it helped ๐
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place first 6 ingredients into a large mixing bowl + 1/2 cup marinara sauce.
Work together with your hands ๐ Then shape into patties.
Heat up a skillet on medium heat with a little EVOO and cook burgers for 3 minutes on each side.
Then put burgers in the oven for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes pull them out of the oven an top each burger with the rest of the marinara sauce and a little mozzarella cheese.
If you want you can sautรยฉ some mushrooms to put on top! I did ๐
I also got these Ezekiel BUNS at Whole Foods, saved them for just an occasion.
On the side I made an easy Italian salad. Mixed greens, green olives, roasted red peppers, and goat cheese.
Is your mouth watering yet?
MAMA MIA! These were fantastic.
Have a great night!
