Ragnar Relay 2010 Recap

10 Girls + 2 Guys + 32 Hours + 200 miles = EPIC!

Yet another amazing adventure to write down in the books 🙂

Our trip began at Ojai Valley. We stayed at my work’s brother camp in Ventura only 15 minutes from the starting line. Such a beautiful camp site.

Holly, the camp director led us to the most amazing Italian restaurant in Ojai.

I built my own veggie pizza complete with chicken too 🙂 It was so neat to hear how the restaurant has a farm and they grow all of their own veggies!

We hit the hay early Thursday night and got up and headed to the starting line. Here we are ready to check in and get this party started! Their were 6 girls in Van #1.

At check in they gave us a bunch of swag.

We all had the bib #153.

I love that we can get creative for Relays. Well we were not as creative as most but we still decorated our van.

Alright it was my turn to get out their and run the road. My first leg was 6.1 miles all on the highway. It was rather beautiful minus the truck debris all in my eyes. I ran right along a strawberry patch that smelt amazing! My Garmin time was 44:10, I was proud.

DSC00268

Look who I found?! My Uncle Joey! He was doing the Relay with some friends too!

DSC00272

After we let Van #2 take over we got some grub at Subway. I ordered the turkey sandwich with avocado. Sunway never tasted so good!

DSC00276

Jen brought the most amazing cookies and in Ash’s words “ I might just give up eating all food and eat these cookies!” . They were blueberry white chocolate, you will be seeing these in my blogger bake sale coming up 😉

DSC00277

After lunch we got to set up our sleeping bags and rest in the most random park in Woodland Hills. Felt good to jut lay around and do nothing for a while.

DSC00280

Then runner #12 came in (Keith on the left) and we were off for our second legs!! As you can see we were all about safety!

DSC00294 DSC00297

My run was at 10:30pm so I had a little banana and PB sandwich to hold me over.

DSC00296

My leg was 9 miles down Ventura blvd. It was dark, scary, and thrilling!!! I rocked it out!

DSC00303 DSC00306

Then it was sleepy time! We went to the next van exchange and rested for 2.5 hours in a park somewhere. We just spread out our sleeping bags and crashed! I don’t think I have ever rested so well.

DSC00310

When the second van called us to tell us they were coming in at 5am, I was so tired I didn’t know how I was going to run. I threw on my clothes and got out there!! My third and final leg was 4.3 miles along the beach!! It was beautiful! I pretended like I was on vacation and was waking up for an early run along the water 🙂 Don’t you love the socks?

DSC00319 DSC00324

Jen was our last runner in our van, she was amazing!

Such an amazing time with 12 wonderful friends. I just love Relay races. The crazy running environments, running conditions, and the challenge make it thrilling!!!

When I got home yesterday I started working on the video I created and sadly I did not finish and got rather frustrated so that will have to come later.

If you missed Hubby’s post from yesterday, check it out. I married such a funny guy :)

Off to work!!!
